How do you know I'm the only one? Nobody knows how many complaints a store gets about a product. According to the views on this forum, people either stop going to the store or dont complain as they think its unimportant or stop buying it if something goes wrong. Additionally some people dont care about the quality of their fruit and veg even if its well below what the retailers guarantee. So the number of complaints doesnt accurately reflect the number of occurences of problems. If nobody else is returning items from the same batch why is it always you that gets the bad product?0 -
Fred - you have to appreciate the fact that fruit and veg aren't made in a factory , they are made by mother nature and therefore its not possible to make them exactly the same every time ..
As you have asserted to yourself , until you actually cut into your melon , its ripeness etc is going to be somewhat of an unknown variable.
This is the same for the supermarket as it is for you , they present it 'as is' and it is up to you wether to buy it or not.
Most people understand this, and expect it when buying these type of goods.
If I got a melon that I didn't think was up to scratch then I would just chalk it up to one of those things.
If I repeatedly got one like that, from the same supplier then I would see if other suppliers were different.
But if I bought it in the first place then I must have thought it looked ok - same as the supermarket thought it looked ok enough to put it out for sale.
I think they have been very accommodating to you giving you any refunds atall, and you really need to have a look at your own expectations and behaviours here - they have clearly had enough of you .
You must see that you cant go asking for refunds like this every time you are not absolutely 100% satisfied with a product that is never going to be the same every time by its exact nature ..
Anyway - as you are clearly a troll - I wont be feeding you again - even with less than perfect melon

Fresh fruit from a supermarket! The only refunds to my mind would be from packaged items that turned out to have bad bits you couldn't see. As for melons, well they used to say shop with your eyes.0

Thats exactly the point I've tried to get across. Hence you should expect either the prices to go up or down according to the quality you get or retailers should stop misleading us with their claims about perfectly ripe melons or perfectly fresh carrots etc. But instead, retailers do offer a guarantee that is there to protect consumers against this natural variability in the quality. The problem is, they are not complying as explained in my previous post.Fred - you have to appreciate the fact that fruit and veg aren't made in a factory , they are made by mother nature and therefore its not possible to make them exactly the same every time ..0 -
Please show me where they guarantee to sell perfectly ripe melons every time and you will have changed my mind0

You obviously didn't read the article I linked to in my previous post.As for melons, well they used to say shop with your eyes.0 -
but what makes the perfectly melon?
As i said before to me a hard pear is perfect where as someone else would say a soft pear is perfect.
Can you show us which supermarket is offering these "perfectly ripe" melons. ?0 -
Ive seen perfectly ripe avocados being sold. There are similar claims on other fruit about it being perfectly ripe. Please show me where they guarantee to sell perfectly ripe melons every time and you will have changed my mind
