  • OP I think you were treated badly, the staff seemed heavy handed. Anyway, it's the photo thing that gets me, they film us the customer so why shouldn't we film anything we want? It's not that they are doing anything illegal are they?Seems an odd reaction from Tesco, sounds like there is something to hide and it's staring us in the face.I don't think it's just the competition they are scared of....after all they all use mystery shoppers on each other. Nope, bet there is something much bigger......

An international conspiracy concerning bananas and idiots?
  • Shame the OP feels unable to answer the questions put to him on this thread.

  • Maybe Tesco will offer the OP a job on the Produce Quality Control Department?

The CCTV could be used for evidence too, for Tesco and the hapless customer.

i'm sorry op but i don't believe you. i think that you have made a mountain out of a mole hill.
you seem to have gone in spoiling for a fight and got one, and you made things worse by trying to take pictures. you state that they asked what was going on but you felt scared and tried to leave, this implies that you didn't put forward your story. if you were so scared and shaken then you should have rung the police there and then.
you also state that you saw the rotten fruit, took a picture, informed the staff member you were calling trading standard and then tried to leave the store. were you not shopping? did you try and pay for any goods? or did you go in and try and 'catch' tesco out with over ripe fruit?
plus how is it up to you to decide that it was unfit for consumption? are you an environmental health officer? plus not showing a picture on here because of possible legal action, you are joking aren't you! your complaint will never see the inside of a court room!

I'm VERY shocked that some people cannot read between the lines of post #1 and realise that the OP has put their slant on what happened...he engineered a confrontation....and some have swallowed it.

Maybe he did. That doesn't give anyone else the right to manhandle him though. To use my nans favourite saying, two wrongs don't make a right.

Har de har, no but whats the big deal about a picture. Why can they film us but it's not ok the other way round? Seems unfair. Why have that policy, for what reason?

I approached the checkout with a plastic bag of discounted bananas, one of which I had removed as it was unfit for sale.
If they'd been perfect they wouldn't have been discounted - and I'll bet you knew that

Sure, the Tesco staff were a bit heavy-handed - but can you HONESTLY say you're completely blameless?

What's the plan? Sue for assault?
