Agreed what the staff did was inexcusable. Which is why I would like to hear what the cops have to say

I think I mentioned earlier I wouldn't have bothered reporting it to the police (I think my personal example was just as bad and completely unprovoked, I didn't report that except to the managing company of the retail park). But if it had been me I'd have barged my way through the security guard, at least that would have established definitely one way or the other whether it was false imprisonment.

So I would also be interested in knowing if anything further happens. How far the police take it seems to depend almost as much about your area and which force it is.

Pity the Police couldnt post on here ; ) the truth is always different from another side, this sounds like an innocent angel sidestepping security gaurds and ranting off about trading standards and false imprisonment, oh what joy the police will have to deal with...The battle of banana ridge : )
  • Why are people having a go at the op?

Because he went bananas in tescos and then went whining to the police?
  • Its about having the right to disagree with whats being sold without being assulted, harassed and illegally detained.

    Surely you exagerate?
Some people seem to have missed the point that I have been treated appallingly.

As a result of your own actions?
Had a sleeples night last night because of all this and im still feeling shaken up today.

    Get a grip.

It absolutely beggars belief that Tesco have treated a customer like this over a rotten banana.

If I was the store manager, I would be absolutely fuming! OP have you called them today to get a formal response? (now that you've had some time to calm down.....I'm not surprised that you're upset).

That member of staff should never have made a fuss about a rotten banana worth a few pence and no one should have laid a finger on you! (don't get why some on here don't seem to understand that?)
