Sorry, I only read the first few post's. Didn't that read the OP's post take notice? The 1st thing that happened was 'At this point I took a picture of the banana I removed, and informed the staff I as going to be sending it to trading standards/environmental health. A staff member, who would best be described as off oriental origin, grabbed my left shoulder and lunged at my phone'
I'm sorry but the OP was assualted and it 'IS' a case for the PolicePlease do not feed the Trolls!0 -

Well, it wasn't exactly an unreasonable assumption, given that your first post described the situation as follows ...
debtdestroyer wrote: »I approached the checkout with a plastic bag of discounted bananas, one of which I had removed as it was unfit for sale. I was told Tesco would not honour the discount as I had opened the bag. At this point I took a picture of the banana I removed, and informed the staff I as going to be sending it to trading standards/environmental health.
To be honest, this is the vent board. If you post here, expect us to rant in response. You've not asked for any suggestions or advice, so you can't complain that we haven't helped, as you didn't ask for any help.

According to their version of events.
The case for the defence might well read ....
"The staff member placed their hand on the customer's shoulder, asked them to hand over the phone and held out their (other) hand in readiness to receive it".
Who knows?

or hand on shoulder = staff standing close to OP, so not need to lunge, however if he did lunge then both OP and staff member topple over, picture OP on floor with large oriental man sitting on top of him...0 -
Ok, haven't bothered to read all 150+ posts but what I have read was that the fruit was to be charged on weight and had been marked down due to being 'very ripe'. Now as others have said a banana is more than safe to eat when black but if this is not to your personal preferences you shouldn't alter a prepacked item to how you would like it to be - it has been reduced because it appeals to a smaller market.
As to the assualt part, yes touching someone - even behaviour and posture can ammount to common assualt but as someone who has had his nose broken by multiple assailants I can assure you that the police generally don't care to the point that only one was charged and that was for a public order offence.
The op is wasting police time and resources that could be used on more important matters such as the chav scum that hang arround and seemingly have taken up the hobby of killing fathers.
If you want to waste anyones time make it the manager of the stores and or head office.0 -

Ooerr missus!
Does the OP have any more news from the police yet?!Gone ... or have I?0 -
so staff member has one hand on your shoulder, another lunging for your phone, what did he use to get on his radio, this would take at least a 3rd hand, then there is the question of what happend to the banana while all this was going on.
Then 2 more staff members accosted you, so that's 3 counts of being manhandled.
anyone else getting my point here
let it go cause if you take this further you'll be laughed out of court and maybe even get done for wasting police time.
All of which will be recorded on the store CCTV, which the po lice will be viewing. All before the CPS decide if they think it is in the interest of the public to prosecute anyone. But of course we don't need courts anymore as we have so many judges and juries on MSE forums:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Debt destroyer ok so the staff were a bit heavy handed but you brought on yourself for opening the bag and removing the banana you didnt like BEFORE YOU PAYED FOR THEM, what did you expect people to say, i work in a supermarket and if i see someone opening some bananas 2 remove 1 they dont like i will remind them that they havent paid for them yet,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
