Hi, when I am filling in the comparison websites and they ask what my OH does for a living, should I put that he is unemployed - as he is at the moment - or keep it at the job that he does when he is employed - hopefully he will get a job within the next few months?
I am just wondering if I put he is unemployed now, don't know if that counts for or against us. If it counts for us, I buy the insurance, then he gets a new job, I tell them his new job title, I'm wondering whether the new insurance will then go higher?
Thanks.0 -

If he's unemployed then you have to state it as so. If he gets a job it may make a difference to the cost of the policy. If he subsequently gets a job as a taxi driver then the policy will increase. If he gets a job as shopworker then it will probably stay the same or could reduce slightly.0 -
If the site allows you then you should be able to put his normal job title Eg Office Clerk and then where it asks what type of employment eg retired, self employed, employed or unemployed you should be able to enter this as unemployed which will give you a better price (Assuming the site you are using allows this type of description)0

Why not ask them? All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
Considering buying a Ford Focus 5 door as a used car, and wondering how much insurance MSE members are paying on their car, either monthly or annually, either on new or on used car.
Just to give me a broad idea to budget.
Thanks a lot.0 -

Insurance groups for the Ford Focus range from 4 for base models (so about £100 - £400 to insure) to 19 for the sportier models (so looking at £400 - £1000).
Figures are very approximate as they are based on the info you supplied.0 -
For the 1st time in years I cannot find a quote cheaper than my renewal price from Swiftcover including any cashback sites. From the advise from the moneysaving articles look like my cheapest option will be to get First direct to guarantee 10% off my renewal price. Does anyone know of any cashback sites that pay for First Direct car insurance and has anyone has any experience with making claims with First direct? In the words of Jerry Maguire "SHOW ME THE MONEY"0

My son is 21 and hopefully will pass his driving test tomorrow and will be getting his own car. can anyone help me with the best way to insure it? would it be better to register the car in my name and insure it in my name with him as named driver or get it in his name with myself as named driver?
I did a few searches with just him and its coming out approx £2000 for a 1.0 litre car. I have 24 yrs experience and 9+ yrs no claims and have a car of my own. TYIA0 -
Your present NCB can only be used on one car. You could swap your car over for your son's on your policy, and have him added to your policy as the named main driver. This would be the cheapest option, as you will get maximum NCD off the high premium, but of course may mean the loss of your NCD by the inexperienced driver!
If you go down this route, you may be able to get an introductory discount off the new policy you will need for your car.0
