after checking the comparrison sites, my renewal with the RAC is still the best, so off I went to look at 'cash back sites'. I found one with a max £70.00 off RAC insurance.
below is a 'pop up' from the site.
Sign up bonus: None
Annual fee: The first £5 you earn
Min cash withdrawal limit: 1p
Points Value: N/A
what does it mean please.

Had similar with Barclays, my renewl was £20 cheaper than any other.
One other note, my Tesco quote for Tesco Insurance was £35 cheaper through their comparison site than direct!0 -
I'm with Adrian Flux and its time for renewal.
I have been recently made redundant so to my shock when i phoned Adrian Flux for a quote on my car insurance they have increased it by £250  for being a jobseeker0 -
Ask Adrian Flux to enter your job as what you were before eg Telephone Engineer, type of employers business Telcomunications but change employment status to unemployed. This should result in your premium with most companies not changing.
The person you have spoken to at adrian flux has probably entered you as Unemployed and employment status as unemployed. This tends to attract a loading as the Insurers imagine you are long term unemployed person rather than just temporary out of work while you look for more work0 -
No offence, but saving even £100 on TPF&T cover in the way you've suggested is a false economy, and almost completely pointless.
I disagree. I depends on your situation. For me, my car is a bit of a banger, only worth a few hundred quid, so saving money on insurance is a must, since I could buy a new car each year for what they ask in the higher quotes! For me, TPFT is the most economical cover and saving £100 for a few hours of work does add up nicely, unless you are on some extremely high salary. It may not even involve that much work, I have saved hundreds in just a few clicks and by double checking my information is truthful, but works in my favour to get me a cheaper quote.
Of course, make sure you don't lie otherwise you will invalidate your insurance and get the cover you feel you need for you car and circumstances, but since car insurance is something we are required to renew yearly, it's worth learning how to do it properly the first time round and you can start saving. I regret paying an extortionate £800 for my first year's cover, when I've wrangled prices down to a neat £150 in my third year of haggling. I guess I learn the hard way.0 -
have a look at some comparison sites, MSE has one! then have a look on here ir quidco for cash back offers and use them.
chech the Total excess the quotes have0 -
Martin's system-check all comparison sites for cheapest then buy direct from selected insurer via cashback site worked well for me Feb 08 - paid £50 for fully comp business on a brand new Peugeot 207.
Feb 09 - discovered the comparison sites have wised up. Most now offer their own cashback on selected insurers bought via them, which is equal to, or better than what you could get eg via Quidco.
Also, if you get a quote via a comparison site, then try putting identical information into the insurers own site, you will find the quote is generally much much higher. It more than cancels out any cashback you could have got eg via Quidco.
Just spoke to an Insurance Broker who told me that Insurers do indeed now have arrangements with Comparison Sites to offer much cheaper quotes via them than they would offer to a customer directly.
Another tip - refuse Legal Protection when the insurer first offers you it - I refused (cost of £25)- then a few pages on was told by bullseyeinsurance that I could have it for free anyway for this year! Might work for you too!0 -
my wife set up a car insurance policy to start tomorrow at about 10-30 this morning but for some reason we have to cancel it (long story) rang the insurers up and they said they will charge us £50 cancellation fee & a £15 admin fee, is this correct as we only started it a few hours ago and it doesnt actually start till tomorrow, can they do that????0
