    Sorry got mixed up with who the poster was It was indeed DebitCardMa and to answer post 136 I dont think that it went through a complete re install but I cannot be sure as I just left it switched on while I was on here on another PC

    If you take the DVD out of the drive and restart the device, you will know.
  • Doam sorry I missed your post no 110 as I wasnt sure of what the terminal was but having found it this morning I typed in the command you said and the reply was command not found.and on the next line Brian-Pressario-C500-GR999OA-ABA

    inxi is not a command I'd heard of either, and it's not installed on my debian systems, but I see there is a package available:

    $ apt-cache search inxi
    inxi - full featured system information script

    Another command to find installed hardware is
    lspci -vv

    And dmesg can be useful (shows all the boot messages as the kernel was starting up). Needs sudo these days. (Yikes, just spotted something nasty in my dmesg output !)

    I had this exact same problem with mint, same driver, and it really kills what would otherwise have been a great product.

    Most routers (all the home ones I have seen) come with a short Ethernet cable. 5 minutes with a cable VS downloading from another computer, copying it over, going to terminal, then typing a few lines of commands from a screen elsewhere, and does it have dependencies not on the disk? - so you can guess which one i did

    try this long way but diwnload the 32 but version https://cects.com/bcm4311-mint16-nowireless-nointernet/?cn-reloaded=1
  • Hi its me back again. Pleased to say Toshiba is working well for letters and printer work etc, The Acer is working well for granddaughter and he Roblox and The Compaq is working well for me browsing etc.,

    A quick question after replacimg the 2 HDD with SSD should the HDD work if connected to a cradle to use as external storage as both are 250GB with only windows on them. When I connect the USB lead to the PC they do not show on the PC when clicking This PC, other connections via USB do.

    Have you plugged in both connectors?

    Both need to be plugged in;

    The HDD is plugged into the cradle which somebody, possibly you, suggested on E bay and that is then connected to the pc via a usb and lead.

    I just checked and itr wasnt in the actual case but is now as per your picture but still not registering on This PC.
  • It wasnt in the case but is now and still not registering on This PC but I notice that in your picture there are 2 leads but I only have 1 going from the cradle inside the case to the pc. The blue light is showing

    Have a look in Disk Management to see if it is shown there.
    Press the Windows key and then start typing Disk Management. Open the application by clicking on the link that appears.
  • it shows :
    C
    Disk 1 Partition 1
    System Reserved

    then lower down
    System Reserved 579 MB NTFS
    C 11.22 GB NTFS
    Disk 1 232.88GB healthy active partition.
