Help whom? They had already fitted the SSD by the time you posted.
The was no useful info within your post at all. On the contrary, if too many people post, it can end up confusing the OP.
Your post is a case in point. You posted without bothering to note at what stage the OP.
    Careless if you ask me.
Regardless of what others might think of somebody else's post, that doesn't give them carte blanche to make flippant comments either about or towards others.

I respect your knowledge and time that you devote to helping people here. But this isn't the first time that you have upset people, is it? All people ask if that you be courteous and respectful towards others. If you can't do that, perhaps you need to ask yourself why.
  • Hi its me back again. Acer is great now but started to put Linux on Compaq and would like some help. I have downloaded Linux Mint to my download folder from the internet and also have the installation DVD that I purchased but cannot get either to run, or rather dont know how to get either to run. Set the BIOS to run DVD first on start up but it hasnt happened. Where do I go from here or how do I set the download to run. Many thanks for any advice

Is there a Boot Menu? Probably under F11 or the ESC key on start up.

No, they are two separate things.
BIOS setup is for permanent change. Boot Menu just sets it for that one time.

    Going out. Back later.

Did you create a bootable USB? (It's not just a case of copying the ISO to a USB pendrive ... the USB pendrive needs to be formatted as a boot disk as well as the ISO being unpacked to it).

Within the BIOS setup there may be an option "CD-ROM boot—Enable/disable boot from
    CD-ROM."

You'll need to choose CD-ROM boot and then toggle the choice to enable and then choose F10 to save and exit. Then you should be able to choose to boot from the DVD.

Are you saying that I should copy from the downloaded folder to either a dvd or usb. I have both so which is the most preferable and easiest to operate and to boot from.

I am quite enjoying this as it is new to me and I am learning more even at 77 years old, although I do get a little frustrated at times.
