    Hi everyone

Feel like I've missed y'all recently and not really sure why as I've not been anywhere/doing anything...

Yes, ditty, defo another vote for Facebook marketplace. I've put loads of stuff on there recently. Even for free stuff I prefer it to freecylcle and can save me a trip to the tip and save stuff from landfill :)

I had plans to go to the park today as a mate of mine is playing in a tournament there. But baby girl was having none of it... Waited until she was in her car seat and then puked over herself, me and her car seat... Bath time for her, change of clothes for me and wash for the car seat... So that meant we were going nowhere...mainly because the car seat is wet. Ah well, best laid plans...

We're getting our house valued on Tuesday so I've been busy cleaning around. Didn't do much yesterday because my pal was visiting and for some reason it looks like I'm back to square 1 again... Ah the never ending cycle!

On the house hunt front...it has mainly served to make us thankful for what we have here!! Haven't seen one that's better than our current house. We've been looking for an extra bedroom and garage mainly, but the extra bedroom is usually a box room so we're worse off than here (no better in useful space and much more expensive area). So now mortgage-wise I don't know whether to move onto a tracker (because we'll surely move within the year and don't want exit fee etc) or to lock in for 2 year fixed and get a cheaper mortgage and decide to stay here for another couple of years while we pay off more etc...

Baby is having a grumble so I'll go and get her and watch more TV. Catch up soon everyone!
  • Well well well... look who's back! I've really missed you all and I have been reading along as and when I could.

    ziggy - I hope you're feeling better
ccl - ditto your ds. And it sucks about your ex.
HK - I hope you are taking it easy enough recovering *narrows eyes*

Well July can bog right off. After FIL passed away, I got really ill. It started the day before the funeral as a cold, then went to some sort of fluey thing and then swiped me down with a really bad chest infection. Ended up ringing 111 (well OH had to do it for me as i couldn't actually talk and breathe  ). Got an emergency dr's app at the hospital walk in and was prescribed a course of Amoxicillin. Took 5 days to get on my feet again, then another week to feel normal.

During this time, due to the heavy rain, a chunk of corroded drain pipe came away, pouring water down the wall and causing a massive damp patch in my dining room. OH had 2 dep gigs in the same weekend (even 1 would be stressful!). And I woke up in the middle of the night to find that all the fuses had tripped (turns out it was the toaster).
Also the rain caused all the ripe plums on my tree to split (about 50 plums) and the squirrel ate all my apples and blueberries.

Have had to try and fix up the drain pipe as best as possible, so a spend there (although is hopefully doing the job - we'll see when it rains). And decided not to replace the toaster as we have a perfectly good grill on the oven (and don't really make obscene amounts of toast).

Food planning and mseness has been sporadic at best as you can imagine. Sensible eating and mse starts on Monday. In a not mse way, we went for a really nice meal on Friday and I had a wonderful massage yesterday. These were my treats to myself for a piggin' horrible time. Now to get back on it.

Today's goals (to run into next week):
:heartpuls Eat from meal plan from tonight to Thurs dinner time (when meal plan runs out)
:heartpuls Keep hands on pennies. No more spending on "other" food.
:heartpuls Chop and blanch the cabbages that are piling up in the fridge
:heartpuls Get back to the gym now I'm well enough
:heartpuls Get back onto my protein shakes and seed cycling

    Have a good day all

    Afternoon all :)
Sorry to hear you have had a rotten month CLF. Bad enough losing a family member, without all the other stuff :( Hope August brings better things - and you rent, don't you? If so, your landlord should be dealing with broken downpipes.
Up early this morning for car boots / markets.
Got bargainous cheese and bacon from the market :)
    Other things:
    Walked dog, free exercise

    Some biz paperwork
Food from home, made a big casserole for the 3 of us (my brother often comes for dinner on Sundays), and there will be enough for OH and I tomorrow as well :T
Brother brought some food items from the staff shop where he works :)
    Updated freezer list :A
Did a declutter of my kitchen and put a big box of stuff out for freecycle, oven dishes, mixing bowls, saucepans, plates, mugs, all sorts. Offered my brother first dibs as he doesn't have much, and it turns out he wanted most of it, so it has gone :T Just a couple of things left which can go to the CS, and I suddenly have loads more space in my cupboards :D
Load of washing dried outside Now in and folded - just a couple of bits will need ironing
Picked French beans (and watered them as well)
Still need to put some sales stuff away upstairs, as it is glassware and won't mix with small GCs coming to play Done
    Wrap and ebay item
    Loads of washing up :(Done
Grrr the catch broke on the oven door when I opened it. OH has taken the door off now the oven has cooled down. The catch needs replacing, and luckily I found a supplier on ebay, so ordered a new one. It was less than £7, and OH can fit it, so a cheap repair. I have a huge Rangemaster cooker that is really far too big for my kitchen, a bit tatty and quite old (it was left in the house when we bought it, I could never have justified buying one new) but I love it! And at least there is another oven I can use while the door is off the right hand one!

    Hiya,
I am actually exhausted . even though I have not left the house today!
    NSD done
    MSE definitely
Room makeover is now almost done ds has painted the inside of the old airing cabinet and it looks great w the door off, this was with a half a pot of left over aldi chalk paint from last year, he is also refinishing cupboard doors with other left over bit of paint.
Old blackout curtains has been brushed and taken up so they now fit over desk. Taking the curtains up took most of the day as my old sewing machine (oldest best friend) started burning (again) after about half a metre, so had to source other sewing machine and work out how to use it (from nice neighbour).
Lunch and dinner from store (fridge is still packed after monster shop on Thursday).
Double base will now probably move on at some point as have started process. It belongs to uni son and I think he might now sell it, probably not through FB though, but I have about 20 items to go on tomorrow.
So the main declutter today was ds t-shirt collection.
    See you all next week.

  • Hello :hello:
Lots of love to you CLF - sounds like you've had a bit of a tough time of things. I hate when life just keeps chucking stuff at you no matter what. One foot in front of the other and all that.
I had another major curveball thrown at me yesterday which has led to a bit of a family rift. I'm hoping that it's not as bad as the one that meant that I didn't speak to my sister for 3 years but at the moment it's very raw and I feel very hurt by the whole thing. It's tough sometimes being the only adult and not having anyone close by that I can just sound off to. Ah well, nothing fixing this one but time so I just need ride it out. It's very hard to maintain a can-do attitude though when life keeps laughing at you. Meh.
Not sure what today's plans are but I definitely want to go out somewhere and get some stuff done. I've done far too much of sitting on my bum feeling sorry for myself.

    Afternoon everyone :)
Many thanks for starting us off purps

I have been reading along......4 weeks into recovery and I'm climbing the walls:o
Seem to be just spending money at the minute. When I do go out its trips to the supermarkets or h..bargains. Can do these without tiring me out but money gets spent:eek: The only positive- few YS items have been picked up and used.

Plus add in the fact that every appliance seems to have come out in sympathy with the stairlift:eek::eek::eek:..
Noticed when we bought ice cream that it wasn't solid coming out of the fridge/freezer.
Have put it up to maximum, it is limping along-both the fridge and the freezer.
It doesn't help that it is positioned next to the oven, the worst possible place but the only way they could get everything in when the kitchen was changed to an adapted kitchen. Mustn't grumble as it is limping along, have ordered a new one doing it thru a cashback site so if it can last till Friday I will be happy.

Have been using up as much as we can from the fridge/freezer

The OT is coming out to see the temperamental stairlift on Wednesday. Measurements have already been done. The plan is to act fast.as I can't afford for it to break but more monies to be spent for a landing and stair carpet to go in when the stairlift goes in.
Don't get me started about the washing machine :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Banking all checked, everything good.
    Quidco checked

Plan this afternoon is to get some paperwork done. Feel in the mood to get stuck into it.

CCL great to see u back posting, not so great news about ex OH. Hope it gets sorted and hoping that DS is doing alot better
Ziggy hoping u are feeling better
CLF here's hoping that this month is a better one for u. Last month sounded just horrendous for u :(

Right off to feed the cats. Still getting their cans from home. Bargains. The price for the tins in Tesc@ and Morris@ns is awful, real price hikes.

    Have a great afternoon everyone.
