I've had a 'bit of everything' day. It was spendy.
I went out early to try to do some of mum's shopping before the sun got too high. Spent £8 mainly on birthday cards (couple of thank yous and one sympathy card). Strategy was to search the shop for the 29p each/ 4 for £1 cards. Mum was most in need of male cards but also got a few 'number' cards for the younger family members. Found another offer of 5 cards for a £1 - mostly relation and number cards. Mum has done all the August cards (a heavy month) so wants to do those to the end of the year whilst her hands are working. She also wants me to buy winter festival (got to keep those elves alive) cards as soon as they go on sale. This is a relief as I hate being on the last minute. It also gives me another task as i have to collect £10 notes to put in the cards (only one note per great-grandchild - all 17 of them).
Then I went on a treasure hunt. As I was in the 'mall' I carried on to BnM (last shop in the mall, card shop is at the near end). I was hunting a metal mop bucket. BnM did not have one. Did not buy anything else, made a mental note of a few things (don't get to BnM very often since it moved from close to me - can actually see the old store from my window, in fact it takes up most of the window although it's on the far side of the car park).
I checked the time and decided I could check out my other option - a market stall. Went through the link door half way down the 'mall', thought the stall had gone but then found it and he had a galvanised mop bucket. He was serving a woman (she was having keys cut or a watch repaired - maybe both). I noticed another bucket under his counter flap, so put the other one back amongst the display.
Bought my bucket and went straight to my eye test appointment. Some changes in my eyes. The optician was surprised by how much I can see with my reading glasses. I'm only putting my varifocals on for watching tv or cinema and for checking bus numbers (the infirmary bus mainly as another bus with only the middle number changed comes about 5 minutes before mine).
New glasses will be just under £200 (with my voucher). I was just going to have new lenses in my varifocals but the cost was mainly in the lenses so having a new £19 frame. I have chosen another frame to be made up as reading glasses and may send the old pair to be upgraded when the new ones come. That way I don't have to struggle without glasses until the new ones come. I could have had a £19 frame for those as well but chose a £39 one - very similar to my existing pair but blue in colour rather than purple. Very comfortable. I should also be able to donate some of my old glasses as well.
Came home and ate. Did lots of shuffling wet clothes and bedding, brought stuff dried earlier in the week upstairs. I returned a library book and put ten items (tins + one bag of pasta) in the food bank box. Went upstairs and looked round the latest exhibition - all I can say is it's very playful.
Realised I'd forgotten about collecting mum's prescription so went out for the bus. Bought an anybus ticket as I had plans. Receptionist couldn't find the prescription, looked on the computer and it's been faxed straight to the chemist. This is what should happen but it hasn't been working with this particular prescription item. Receptionist suggested i check with the pharmacy that they had received it and would be delivering it on Tuesday.
Called in at the downstairs pharmacy for some advice on something else mum has brought up. Went for the bus and spent an enjoyable 15 minutes chatting with a couple I know from craft group. They no longer go any more either, for similar reasons to me.
Was going to go to Morries for ys bargains but decided to get off at the bus station and walk to the chemist which delivers mum's blister packs. The person in the blister pack department was on the phone with our doctor discussing mum's prescription so I had to wait. We agreed that mum (and I) know what we are doing with the pills (reducing slowly 1/2 a pill at a time so currently on 9mg a day, will be going down to 8.5 - 9mg/ 8mg on alternate days and she gave me the pills.
Managed to get a 50p reduced sandwich in B**ts (went in because I was so hungry I was frightened of losing control when I got to McD's). Walked home slowly moving from bench to bench, feet are very heavy. There are a couple of things I had in mind to make more use of my bus ticket but feel like staying home (would love a shower)
Today i am grateful for my new mop bucket (2 people have already asked where I got it), for new glasses and the library (noticed how busy it was - one group meeting in the room we use for cinema club, another in the corner of the library one or two people with laptops - think one pair are giving some sort of advice). Access to council services is in the back corner, computer class in the other back corner and a desk for citizens advice at the back (in the middle). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Evening
Not a nsd today - did the grocery shop this evening. Just a little one for the kids - I have more than enough food to last me a lifetime in the house, plus a couple of bits off the 'school supplies' list. Popped to N£xt while I was out to return a frivolous sale buy (well - it was quite nice swimsuit that I wanted for my hols but it arrived while I was away rather than before I actually went) and that's about it.
Oh, almost forgot - found someone to 'look' for my ex and serve the papers. He says it's going to be tough to find him but it is at least a fixed price. We'll see how that goes.
Not the most productive of days but at least I've done something.
And I bought the 1 ingredient at Mr S this evening that I've been missing to make my gooseberry chutney, so that goes onto tomorrow's list of things to do (way too tired tonight) and also freed up the tiniest space in the freezer, which is full to bursting. Not giving up

Hi all :j
Spendy day as predicted, hairdressers, car service etc etc. Only good thing about going is trip over the tops to get there, fantastic views.
so still 1 NSD
Had planned to do lots but don't seem to have achieved as much as I'd like. However, did cut half the grass - still need to do the rest & some of the back garden too. Will need doing again before we leave on Monday as it won't get done for 3 weeks..
No jamming today, very annoyed with myself because I had picked the gooseberries, well most of them. Not very many, but all ripe, still some to pick but needed to protect my arms as they were underneath the branches with lots of thorns. Left container, only to find today some (thing) has eaten nearly all of them
Lunch from stores but then fish & chips for supper, plus DH had called at Bettys in Harrogate, bringing home treats....diets going well..
DD is on the way back - in Calais now & will be back tomorrow, so the peace & quiet will be shattered. However, we go on our hols on Monday..
Did do some packing, ironing & transfer of some Euros, so that's better than normal..

Today I am packing - just for me, I let the kids do their own as it is the only way they learn - I do not check it either. It all adds to the DRAMA!! and the MYSTERY!! of the occasion. Little things!
Just keeping it chilled, and relaxed today, I am off at 4am so keep on turtling, and I will be taking our own hot drinks and snacks and lunch on the boat to keep the cost down. Might just have one coffee onboard though, if I am desperate. After all, it is a cruise.

Hi all
NSD yesterday due to chores and bimbling about. Met up with a friend late afternoon and benefitted from a long walk, catch up, home made curry and some TV! A treat since Ive decided not to buy a tv licence this time!
No NSD today, went to a parkrun at a new location (for free) and realised I had to pay for parking which I hadn't needed to do in my usual place.. never mindno more planned spends for the rest of the day
Thanks Fmess for your guide on pet costs. These lil furballs are not cheap but are well worth every pennyIve had a look in the local rescue centre today and am waiting for the right one to come along :happyhear

Beautiful day today so all the washing has been done and dried outside and some of it ironed as well. Did my neighbour's ironing whilst I was at it. She went on holiday ten days ago and forgot until she was getting on the plane that she hadn't taking her washing in. Oh well, it'll save her a bit of time when she gets back tomorrow.
Did quite a few household chores, changed the bedding and there's a chicken casserole in the slow cooker for tomorrow's dinner. Planted some herbs seeds that I found in one of the kitchen drawers. They're quite old so I don't know if they'll grow or not. Worth a try.
No adventures today but it's been productive.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0
