Did not sleep well and still very creaky. Started the day slowly but got a lot of paperwork into the recycling bin. Took 2 birthday cards round to mum's cousin (1 for her daughter and one for her grandson) and left a note about my aunt (different sides of the family).

Packed more paperwork to sort out at mum's. Paid the balance owing on our October holiday, did an online order for things mum had tried and failed to order through the mail, mum's cousin phoned and they had a long chat, lots of paper into mum's bin (had to go and lie down whilst mum was watching her programme to stretch the kinks out of my back.

We both had the tuna and bean salad I made yesterday plus odds and ends from the fridge. Bins out at both houses and have brought the dry washing in.

Out with mum tomorrow for the 'Hot Ice Show'. Being picked up at noon and coming home at 6 pm. Show first and then free time in Blackpool - yippee.

Today I am grateful for a cooler breezier day, for the dress I want to wear tomorrow drying outside, for seeing the back of a load of paperwork (tax credits are the worst - every time you phone them they send you a six page letter that's identical to the previous one).

    Morning all,

Small spend yesterday as I bought the drinks after the gym with my friend, she’s on maternity and so not getting paid and had the little one to occupy whilst I queued. Did dog walks, swam and did some of admin job, plus new boiler was fitted and today just needs commissioning.

Today should be more of the same and the boiler being finished :)

    Hi folks,

Yesterday was a low spend getting some fresh food bits ready for tonight and tomorrow's night shifts :( I am aiming for 3 no spend days in a row - today, tomorrow (as I'll be asleep all day) and Friday (won't be doing much in zombie mode).

    Hugs to all

First post this month, sorry applemuncher.:o

    4 SFD to report. :T

Some spending had to extend my ticket for zoo extra £6 as we never went when it rained heavily. Plus had to buy extra drinks we had taken picnic but was so hot. Amazed they didn't have refill drinks station. Chester Zoo was lovely but busy, and hot. Even though we stayed later to avoid a few accidents we had heard about took us 2 hrs to get home. Just say North Wales is popular in the summer.

Bought lots of food over the weekend as I have relatives camping nearby did invite them for tea, However I am now driving to meet them in a pub. Chose a cheap one so will be spending today plus I need petrol.

My freezer and fridge is at bursting point. So no more food shopping for a while.:D

Had 1 night out over the weekend only spent £10 good band and company.:)

Bought a dress not sure why but I was wandering around Next - only naughty spend. Now I need to go out to wear it :D

Have de cluttered some dresses for charity, and toys they collect tomorrow.

Have been on a melt down all week, not sleeping, lumps and bumps come out, seem to be clearing up now. Guessing stress mixed with the heat lately. Feel better yesterday and today.:)

Been trying to work out my long term finances, so complicated put it on the back burner for a few days too stressful. :rotfl:

Will have a read through at lunch break - staying in not to spend.

Really heavy rain here today so we haven't ventured out. I've been pouring over recipe books trying to devise a meal plan using what we have in store as far as possible. Cooked and planned for the next four days but the Boy has requested roast beef for Sunday dinner so that will have to be bought on Friday. Trying not to buy anything else before then.

Shrewbie - We're trying really hard to avoid alcohol. Mainly for health reasons but it is amazing how the cost of sharing a bottle of wine with dinner adds up.

Apple - Thanks, Yes, he is doing well. He was asking how to make curry last night. Never thought I'd see the day! Apparently his boss put him forward for a promotion without telling him. The board is today. If it were me I'd be a wreck but he doesn't seem at all fazed at the prospect.

Calling - you don't seem to have much luck with the zoo!

Today I am grateful for swimming with dd and dh, for a much drier day, for coming across a charity shop that specialised in sporting stuff, for A Matter Of Loaf and Death, for more needle felting (4 baby owls and 2 mice so far), for time just to relax.

Hot Ice show was much more fun than I was expecting due to a plethora of young attractive men who according to an American lady 'had very nice neat tushes'. It really took off near the end when a man in a tub of hot water took centre 'stage' (centre rink sounds silly) clad only in a garment that started at his waist and ended at his knees. He then proceeded to use the bath and two long ties dangling from the ceiling to perform thee sort of moves you usually see on a pommel horse, parallel bars or rings.

Very impressed (with his athleticism of course). He even used the ice a few times even though he was barefoot - and he played with the water a lot.

After we found a way out of the Pleasure Beach that did not involve a steep slope we bought fish and chips (one portion) and crossed the road and the tramlines to sit on a bench near the sea (well about 20 feet away as Blackpool has finally updated it's sea defences). The tide was in so no paddling but some spray and lots of healthy ozone.

I went back across the car park, tramlines and roadway to buy ice creams whilst mum stayed on the bench. The waste bins were on the car park as well so I've been up and down a small flight of steps several times as well as lugging the walker up and down and in the ice auditorium (luckily someone offered us two end of row seats so we didn't need to squeeze past a dozen other folk to reach our designated seats.

i think there were about 7 coaches in the car park so some blocks were full of people (block bookings) but the venue was only half full so there were also completely empty blocks. Luckily most of the audience cottoned on fairly quickly so more or less chose where to sit .

Both journeys were interesting. We took two hours to do a one hour journey as we picked people up at multiple locations on the other half of the borough. All sorts of places I have visited over the years for various reasons (teenage parties, areas I used to walk round, committee meetings, one of my pre-op visits to Wrightington).

On the way back we were amongst a few people who changed coaches at the coach office. Lots of us were waiting at the pick up point in Leigh but we were split between coach one and two (according to how soon you booked for the trip, coach two would have been added when the waiting list for one grew). The drivers had collaborated at the venue so that they each did a couple of the end stops rather than both of them having to travel round to all of them. We had had several drop offs by then so there were plenty of places to sit.

Now I'm on the bed with no plans to move further than the bathroom. I did some errands this morning but had limited success. Not my fault but bizarre circumstances. Mum's building society had had a power cut. Two young women were stationed outside to apologise to customers and give what help they could. I suspect they were actually locked out as the staff would have been unable to lock the safe (or the tills?) and the security screens would not have worked if someone tried to rob them. With the computers down they couldn't deal with the majority of customer requests.

Today I am grateful for good weather despite the early clouds and rain (lashing it down on the motorway going), for an enjoyable show and for sitting peacefully by the sea.

    Good Morning.

Kerry - Sherlock Holmes is on my reading list - did you enjoy them?

Deni - coping without an oven is awful, are you getting it replaced?

Off to work in 20 minutes - boo, hiss. I will no doubt have the pants bored off me, plus the sun is shining as it always seems to be when I work.

Took the kids out yesterday to our favourite little town for a mooch and some lunch - just a sandwich by the river.

Mothernerd - that show sounds great! I wondered where you wre going when you started telling us about the man in a hot tub...:rotfl:

Today's aventures have started - disposing of another rather big spider - about the size of the top of a half-pint glass.
