I lost my trust in the company some years ago..
Never liked them and on returning to the UK after some time abroad was caught out the first time I used them again, so I'm like you.
I shop in Aldi and Lidl depending on circumstances and top up at Waitrose - loose tea, some cheeses, strong flour, wine, and obscure things like gelatine and other bits and bobs. Occasional meat when it's on offer.
The local butcher for when I'm pushing the boat out on the meat front.
Oh, and Asda for the opticians!0 -
Not sure. But went to a 24 hour tescos the other night and wanted own brand instant whips. Got told they no longer do them so had to get the branded version
So not cheaper in this instance.

Tesco led the massive price hikes after the bankers' crash, and all the other supermarkets followed every increase. I discovered Tesco had the cheapest teabags I could find, after the ones I got from Asda doubled in price (50p for 25) Now I get a box of 80 for 58p
Recently I had a problem with the wholemeal bread I have been buying from Aldi & Lidl (Aldi's became "thick sliced" [20 slices] and Lidl's slices 'grew' to also reduce the number of slices), - someone on here mentioned Tesco had a similar loaf at 40p, but I have to get there before 10:30, or they've gone (and they even remove the shelf label, so you wouldn't know they existed!) There's a whole aisle of more expensive loaves - most 2 or 3 times the price, but only one tray (10 loaves) of the 40p ones..Everything else I have compared has been a higher price, in Tesco!
