I've noticed some products I buy at Aldi/Lidl have now been priced matched by Tesco's "exclusive brands" for example
400g lighter cheese, £1.79 at Lidl. Now Tesco have the same under their "Creamfields" brand.
And also the Frozen milk lce lollies (85p) at Aldi, are now also at Tesco under the "Ms Mollys" brand at the same price.

I suppose they’ve got to try and attract/retain custom! I still find it really expensive there though so they’ve got a long way to go yet0

Same here Mrsn - I usually do a "proper" shop at Lidl/Aldi every fortnight which costs around £60 and every other week a "top up" shop at Tesco (it's nearer) which costs the same.0

Yes Tescos are now much cheaper and giving Aldi/Lidl a run for their money. When you add in the choice and clubcard its only worth getting offers in Lidl/Aldi I think.
BUT if you eat a lot of processed food: Biscuits, Choccies, Snacks, Crisps, Sweets its going to be a lot cheaper in Aldi/Lidl.0 -

Pardon my french but this is utter bollox !
A few items maybe as cheap but no way does an average basket at Tesco come close to Aldi on value.0 -
Don't be fooled. Ms Mollys ice lollies etc are maybe price matching Aldi, but basically all that kinda stuff is Tesco Value in a "marketable" name, so lower quality to the Aldi equivallent.PK! :money:0

I completely agree.
Aldi and Lidl are nowhere near as cheap as they used to be either so along with Tesco becoming more economical its all helped.
I also agree that processed stuff is probably a lot cheaper at aldi/lidl but as I don't buy any of that, I wouldn't really know.
I only go to Lidl once a year at Christmas as its not worth the extra travel time for me.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Exactly.
Tesco have been sending me quite a few £3 or £4 off a £30 shop, & £2 or £3 off a £20 shop coupons trying to tempt me back. Even with the equivalent of 10% off I struggled to find enough to make up the total. The had some wipes (of a satisfactory quality) for 60p that I used as 'fillers' to get me over the £30. They're 55p at Aldi. Went back to Tesco the following week and they're up to 70p. Needless to say Tesco got no further custom from me.
Unless they can match Aldi for price and quality, there really is no comparison.0 -
The problem I now have with Tesco is that I can't do my full shop there, so if I do go there I have to go somewhere else as well.
And the clubcard points aren't really worth the effort.0 -

What is it that you need that you can't get in Tesco??? They have about a million product lines to choose from....which is one of the reasons we prefer Aldi - choice of one (or maybe 2 if you're lucky!!)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0
