Today i am exhausted.
But I've managed to re do our budget for the rest of this year.
And we have done some more work on the front garden - no spend
Simple dinner tonight .. I'm thinking jacket potatoes as we have potatoes that need using.
I'm really trying to implement our frugal ways back when we were clearing our debt and saving for our home.
Hopefully today is the first of many. We did it before and had a happy life. We can do it again. I don't want consumerism to consume us. I also don't want to be adding extra un-needed stuff to our home.
I'm on a personal journey of minamilsm and frugal/thrifty.
I want to get to a place where we are secure financially and have no mortgage payment to worry about.
This lockdown will make it easier in some ways but harder in others.
I'll try and do at least a brief daily update to keep me on track.

Great to see you back and lovely to hear that things are going well for you and yours.
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

Thankyou Chrystal ,
Yesterday was a no spend day. Today should be too. I need to order our online food shop today for next week. Ill go through the cupboards and see what we have here and do a meal plan and list.
Also need to do housework bits. I'm not feeling so tired today thankfully.
Have a good day everyone.

Welcome back!
Re-implementing no spend days is a great idea, our outgoings have gone down so much being home 24/7 and I didn't think I spent much but clearly I was wrong!
Single shops is definitely a plan to keep up here too.1 -
Thankyou.
I really want to give the savings a good boost ... No time like the present to make it happen. 😁 I also don't have much work in may so no better time to refocus really. 😁
I've made a small list of things I need to do to improve our finances.
I've also applied for a part time job so I will always have a basic income every month. And it's closer to home. I'm keeping everything crossed that I get offered it as the hours are perfect too. 🤞 If not I'll apply for some other jobs and see what happens I guess. 🤷♀️
If I can end the year with £12,000.00 in our savings account and our mortgage less than £118,000.00 I'll be over the moon. Obviously due to what is happening in the world right now this will be a massive achievement, but I stay hopeful.
I hope everyone else is doing well. The whole lockdown situation has put a new perspective on life for me. Are you guys feeling the same
Take care everyone

Hello my beautiful diary friends, I hope you are all well ?
We did our food shop online last night for Wednesday.
Other than that we haven't spent any money in the last 3 days including today.
I'm currently waiting to hear about a job I applied for. (I've applied for a few but there is one I particularly would like) feels like forever. Doesn't help that there isn't much about right now. I'm keeping everything crossed I get an interview and offered the job. The hours are perfect and it's close to home.
My work through the agency has never been so quiet since I joined in December either.
Financially I just hope to get through the next few months without having to use our savings.
I need to keep myself more busy on my days off. I'm feeling so tired and just keep waiting around for emails from job applications. I was doing so well the first two weeks of this month decluttering and organising the house I need to give myself a kick up the backside.
Hope everyone has a lovely day .
I'm going to have a cup of tea and try and spend the rest of the day more productivelyJune 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/20461 -
Hello my beautiful diary friends,
I hope you are all well. Hugs to those that need / want one (or a few)
I've been trying to focus on not spending money and being more frugal
Today I had a shower instead of a bath. I washed the laundry at 30 degrees and put it on the airers to dry . And it was a no spend day.
I also managed to get a few more shifts for may so we should be ok now until the end of may.
I've cancelled my son's giffgaff for now. As he is using. Whattsapp to message friends and gets free texts to me and his step dad. (he likes to speak to me on my breaks)
I need to cancel a few more DDS and book the car in for service.
Have a lovely evening everyone.

I'm trying to do the frugal living challenge on here. Which goes hand in hand with no spend challenge really.
I'm also on no spend , minamilsm and frugal groups on FB. Which is nice . It helps to make you feel less alone and they have some great ideasJune 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/20461 -
Hello my beautiful diary friends,
Last pay of the month today and we now have the £8000 in our emergency fund.
Hoping for a very frugal may. I think I have enough shifts now that if we are careful I will be able to add a small amount to the savings or make a small overpayment to the mortgage.
We have also requested a refund for Disney on Ice tickets we brought earlier in the year but couldn't go due to the lockdown. That money will go to savings when we receive it.
Petrol prices are low here at the moment. So I save a few quid each time I need to fill the tank. I'm not traveling for days out or to see family either so some weeks depending on how many shifts I'm doing a full tank is lasting about 2 weeks sometimes which never happens.
I have a few phone calls I need to make today and a few jobs to do. Back to work tomorrow after a few days off.
I think the next food shop won't be so expensive as we hopefully won't need much. I'm hoping for quite a few no spend days in may.
Have a good day everyone.
Love hugs and positivity to you all

With interest rates at the lowest i think they have ever been since I've been adulting I'm going to get the savings to £12,000 hopefully by October and then throw everything at the mortgage Ready for when our fixed term ends June 2021 .
Overall this will save us more money I think I worked out earlier in the year we are paying about £13 a day in interest to our mortgage whereas our savings account gives us about £5 for the year.
I'm then going to set up a DD of between £100-£200 a month to go into a savings account for things that aren't a monthly expense. Birthdays , Christmas , school trips and school uniform , holidays , days out , TV licence (we pay yearly)
5 frugal things I've done today
- put the laundry on the airers instead of the tumble dryer
- didn't use the recommended amount of washing powder - it still smelt amazing btw
- poured the tumble dryer water into our bin outside (it's an old outdoor bin I'm using to collect rain water to water the garden)
- sent all of the weeks weekly pay to savings
- we are on our 5 no spend day in a row
I'm slowly adopting my old ways from when I was a young mum not able to get credit and the days of saving up for the house and paying off our debts. I've always been quite frugal but ive always had times in my life that I've been frivolous too.
One of the things I'm looking at doing next year is buying a car (cash) that is more economical and cheap to run. I think I've found one. That isn't tiny so we won't be squashed but is £0 tax and cheap insurance and good mpg so will save me a fortune in fuel. Our current car does about 30mpg which is rubbish.
