  • hello my beautiful diary friends,

i hope you are all well and life is being good to you.

Thank-you for stopping by longway2go , we have a washable swim nappy for DD which i found this week at the back of her drawer :) but i'm yet to find one that fits ds2 ... i will keep searching though :)

a good day today. I'm feeling better than i have done the last few weeks. i think i'm just drained mentally.

    spends today
    £1 toddler group
£28 tesco (i really need to put more effort in to work on this, we are spending way too much on groceries
£0 gym induction - they didn't charge me because i have a membership
£0 to use the gym - membership (its £7 to pay as you go)
    ds1 did after school club - £0
    £4.79 mortgage over-payment
    £200 savings account

yesterday was a no spend day (i think) ?!

i really really need to knuckle down with my diploma. i'm in work the next few days and staying on for a few hours (i'm already there so figured why not?) but Saturday my plan is to work on a plan to get more organised (we are getting there, but we have let things slip the last few months and with 3 kids and with our finances i find organisation is the key to success, and the key to being less stressed.

and sunday we will be packing for our holiday :) a much needed break .

    ill update tomorrow

    have a lovely evening everyone.

love hugs and happiness to you all

  • Hi everyone

I hope you are well and that life is being good to you

Yesterday was a spend day as I brought tobacco on the way home. Its really effecting my chest though so I'm going to find and sort my vape and quit for good. It's better for my health and my pocket.

I'm stressing a little. I know I'll be having this operation at some point but it seems we will have to spend some money on the house. We now have a leak in the upstairs bathroom as well as our bedroom and a wet lounge ceiling. We have put a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom and the water poured out so hoping it will prevent the whole ceiling collapsing. We go away on Monday so sil is having a key and the builder is coming and hopefully he can sort it all out. Im also hoping to call in favours from family to replace the ceilings that are damaged and save on trade costs.

I have done around 12 hours overtime this month 6 hours will be paid at £10 p/hr and 6 hours 12 p/hr its not a lot but I was already there so I saved on fuel by doing it this way instead of going in and doing an extra shift.

    The plan for this week
    1. Use up what food we have before we go away
    2. Quit the fags and dont give in (,use my Vape)
    3. Enjoy our holiday but be mindful of what we spend
    4. Get a quote for the work on the house
    5. Catch up with my diploma work so I can stop stressing about it
    6. Take the wallpaper off the dining room and bathroom (both have pealed the dining room from a previous radiator leak and the bathroom from the leak the today)

On the plus side we have the savings to staying out of debt. It just makes you realise how Important having savings is

Have a great weekend everyone :j

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends,

I've decided we are going to budget £1000 next year for breaks away. We want to trial camping with the kids again. (went last year but all got poorly so had to come home early) so we have agreed to take the kids away for 2 nights not to far from home and see how it goes. Honestly I want some time away just us and no distractions (no phones/Internet) so I've found a back to basics Campsite close to home for £30 for 2 nights at the start of the summer holidays next year. I figured if we can go back to basics and camp in basically a field with no toilet and shower block we can do anything. We have all the camping gear including a camping toilet so we might as well make the most of the stuff we have. The site does have campfires which sounds lovely.

So I think I'm going to book that at some point. Breaks away from home really don't have to be expensive and it would mean we could go for multiple breaks away if we go camping rather than other types of holidays. (doesn't always have to be so basic)

It's really made me think about things. And again goes back to being open minded and prepared to give anything a try once because you never know you may surprise yourself and really enjoy it. Im really looking forward to it. :D

    Oh
    £40 spent today in tesco
It included a dvd for £15 (for movie night tonight)
And slippers for DP (his has holes in the bottom  )

    Have a good weekend everyone

  • In true frugal style.
I will take everything out of the fridge that is In there in the morning and take it with us along with things like squash, ketchup, eggs, bread that's open etc it will be no good by the time we get back so as we are self catering it makes much more sense to take it with us.

I'll pack lunches for all of us for the journey and we will take our water bottles to keep us hydrated while we are there.
The aim is too eat out and buy stuff on the go as little as possible so we have money for activities should we need it. I'll do a small food shop for the few days we are there closer to the destination.
My dad has kindly given us £100 spending money (instead of a new home gift when we moved here). And I aim to spend no more than £200 of our own money. That essentially gives us £100 a day not including the day we arrive and the day we come back. It should be easily do able if we stay mindful.

I'll keep track of our spends and do a break down when we return along with tips and tricks we did while we were there.

I've never paid so much for a holiday when booking it hence the low amount of spending money. :money:
Sure we could spend more but I refuse to. Eating out every night isn't what will make the holiday memories :D

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends,

I hope you are all well

    Thank you Moneyfordreams

Still on holiday until tomorrow. But today was payday and tomorrow is the start of a new month and new budget
We still have some money in my purse for the rest of today and tomorrow so won't need any more money out the bank for the holiday (we withdrew £200 on the first day and we have just used that and the £100 my dad gave us. We haven't used our cards at all)

    Our accounts are as follows

£2000 for all outgoings for November

    £4000 in emergency fund

£700 for Christmas / birthday presents for the rest of the year.

Our blinds will finally being fitted when we get back off holiday so I'll have to take some money out of the emergency fund for that (I need to set up an account for house stuff) and we need to get our roof and ceiling sorted.

I might try and get some extra shifts ill see how I feel

    Have a great day everyone.

Love hugs, positivity and prayers to you all
