  • Wow! You have so many plans afoot - exciting stuff! I'd love a woodburner but our internal walls are all plasterboard, and the winows are floor-to ceiling and wall-to-wall, and no chimney, so just no space for one.

I've joined you in the hernia club. It may even be 2. I have a scan in a couple of weeks, so all will become clear...

  • Ah that's a shame. There was an open fire originally but they have blocked it off boarded it up and put a gas fire in. I can't wait to put a wood burner there .

Oh no . I hope the scan goes okay good luck with it all xx

Trying to rain in the spends but once again we will end up dipping into savings. It doesn't help that after petrol I'm only left with about £600 of my wages. Hopefully it won't be long and I can change my hours . Fingers crossed it will be before the end of the year it will be sorted.

Also Trying to get stuff sorted for my diploma. I've had to buy another laptop as I need it tomorrow for work to start my diploma. We are going to get my old one fixed and sell it to recup the costs. I just got a basic laptop so it was £200 and should Be able to get about £150 for my old one as it was quite high spec.

I'm going to speak to my manager tomorrow and push for relief rather than contracted hours.

We have painted the new to us coffee table. We had some paint left from our other unit we painted so it just cost us the table which was £2.

I just need to source an end table and TV unit now. But I'm waiting till I find one for free or a bargain price and I'll paint it to match the coffee table (still have paint left over)

Wasn't a no spend day today had to get some essentials from Mr t. Oh went so I don't know how much it cost. Will find out.

Have my training for the agency in october.

Have a good day everyone love peace and happiness to you all x

  • Thankyou Savingholmes , just trying to say money any way I can.

    It's been a tough week
Monday went and enrolled into my diploma. To find out I have to do my functional skills in maths English and ict. I really don't know how I'm supose to fit it all in

    Then it got way worse

Monday night ds2 was admitted to hospital.
We got home midnight Tuesday I was really poorly from missing my meds on the Monday night. Throwing up at the hospital on Tuesday well trying to look after ds2. We were transferred by ambulance to another hospital 50 miles from home. I took nothing with me other than my phone. I had no change of clothes for either of us no nappies for ds2 . Luckily the hospital had some that fit him. So I need to make an emergency grab bag or something incase it happens again .

Went to work yesterday that was fine.

Got home to a £3000 bill from our housing association from our previous property yep you read right £3000!!

They are charging us for works that weren't even due to us like replacing ceilings ! we never touched the ceilings only ever painted them white. ! Removing coving ... The list goes on.

We are going to fight it and see if we can get some of it taken off and then set up a payment plan. With me due to go into hospital within the next few months we really can't afford to have nothing left in our savings account. And in the meantime I'm going to have to pick up overtime to try and give our savings a boost.

Plus side me and partner have agreed to do a no spend challenge properly this time like when we were clearing the debt to try and give our savings a boost

    Nothing much else to report

    Work this afternoon.

Have a great day everyone

It sounds as though you really are having an horrendous time . (((hugs)))

Hope DS2 is OK now? I agree that a grab bag sounds totally necessary, you must have been at your wits end!
£3000 sounds like an enormous amount for 'things' to be put right. Hopefully sense will prevail and you can get it reduced to a reasonable amount.
Sending positive thoughts in your direction and hoping that things start to improve very soon. XX

That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends,

I hope you are all well.

Thank you Chrystal ds2 is getting better , I'm not trying to worry about the money situation just trying to make the best of it. We will set up a payment plan with them when they agree to a final amount hopefully they will bring the bill down abit.

On the plus side it was was my day off today and I used it productively getting lots crossed off my "to-do" list that I've been putting off.

Did a food shop today. Went to Aldi.

And I've been busy prepping for packed lunches next week (I have meals provided at work but both boys will take packed lunch) ds2 is stay at school for lunch next week for the first time since starting school. I refuse to pay for school dinners. Ds2 is entitled to free school meals because of the government thing they set up a few years ago but he's lactose / dairy intolerant and really fussy and he doesn't understand what he can and can't eat so packed lunches is safer..

Things I've done to save time and money (some of it I've always done)
    1. Frozen batches of sandwiches stops the bread going mouldy before we can use it
    2. Portioned out raisins (I refuse to buy the little individual packets)
    3. Made batches of American pancakes for breakfast
    4. Made and portioned out popcorn (costs about 3p a portion) they will take this instead of crisps
    5. Made some wraps and froze them to stop them ending up in the bin

Lots of phone calls made :)

All the laundry is up to date just needs to be put away

On a positive note. I've had the money from our cooker not being fitted by the supplier refunded
And had a cashback payment onto my catalogue account . My catalogue is paid off so it's put me in credit

In total it adds up to £340 I'll be getting the money transferred to my account so I can put it into savings

I also put in the form yesterday at work to request a reduction in hours. It will mean I will only have to go there once a week for a long day (technically 2 shifts) and for 6 hours once every 3 weeks for my study day. This will save me money in petrol. Allow me to work for the agency closer to home and get a better work life balance.

So apart from setting up a payment plan for our £3000 bill and me trying to stay frugal to get as much in the savings as possible before I have my op (still haven't had a date) things are looking positive.

The plans for the house are staying on the back burner. We will probably just aim to get it done for next Christmas now.

But we have the holiday to look forward too. :)

I don't think there is anything else to update on.

Im hoping over the next few weeks I can work on using my time more effectively so I feel less stressed and more organized.
