Thank you debtaghh,
The aim of my diary is to try to help others so I'm really happy that it's helping you.
It's also nice to read back and reflect and see how far we have come. :j
Also it really helps to motivate me and stay focussed because when I have a moment of "I'll buy that" I feel abit guilty and i always think .. what would my mse friends think and say .
Im honest about everything. We all have times we slip up and that's okay. But I think it is important to be honest with ourselves. And it's definitely helped me on this journey. Looking back when I was in debt I was in denial and I would always convince and tell myself it's okay. Now I dont justify it, if I do it, I do it and it's done and I learn from it and I think about purchases more. Is it necessary or would I rather see the money in my bank. Am I happy to work ten hours to pay for that item etc. I don't really make purchases or spend money now without really thinking about it.
It's all a journey and we continue to learn everyday. We are not perfect , no one is , and we all make mistakes, and that's okay too, but imo mistakes are made for us to learn and that is definitely what we have been doing over the last 2 years.
I have nearly got to a place financially where I feel comfortable. I'm not there yet. But hopefully we will be and that has helped my health tremendously as its something I no longer have to worry or stress about. And that on its own is a massive step. I feel I live a better quality of life now because I no longer have to worry about how I will feed my kids tomorrow or if I got I'll for a few weeks how I will pay the bills.
Money doesnt buy happiness but it does provide security and contentment to a degree.
We are continuing to work on our financial goals and financial security in hope that we won't have the worry of how we will feed our kids ever again. But we never know what the future holds. And this is why I'm putting in so much effort to get a good amount of savings in the bank. :money:June 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/20460 -

Holiday booked. Over budget but due to the time of year (October half term) we wanted somewhere with plenty for the kids to do (especially if the weather isn't great)
So it's our first time going to Butlins ! We booked a bungalow rather than a room so we can cook etc while we are there and just generally have a more comfortable experience.
Cost £758.00
Here's hoping we have a nice time. I haven't took anytime off work yet this year. First week off is September (the kids first week back at school) and I have October half term off (hence the break away) I so need this break. We went on holiday last year camping and all ended up poorly and traveled back after 48 hours.my last holiday before that my 5 year old was one or two. A much needed and deserved break for us all.
In the meantime we continue our frugal adventures:D

Hello everyone ,
Since completing in June our basic outgoings have gone up (fuel is crippling me due to my commute). Tomorrow is a new month so the budget starts again and I'm determined to not dip into our savings this month.
I'm holding out with work until I have my operation. And then I'll be reducing my hours at my current job. And doing some agency work closer to home to top my hours back up.
The aim for next year is to have a better work / life balance , while still trying to earn enough to make regular overpayments
I hope everyone is well . Chat laterJune 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/20460 -

We are in bognor right now & having a great time. We booked hotel & food, so all costs were covered before we left. Ours was a little less than yours , but including food, but there is only 4 of us.

We are going to Minehead.
So sorry I thought I replied to this a while ago.
Let's start with the bad news
is im spending so much on fuel we seem to be struggling to save anything.
My laptop screen is broken so I need to get that fixed
Good news
I've spoke to work I've got to apply for my hours to be changed / reduced. It may or may not be accepted.
I've bagged a job with an agency so I can work extra the days I'm not working at my current job
I'll be starting my diploma in residential childcare soon
I should only need 6 weeks off for my operation
I'm going to start my level 5 diploma in leadership and management sept 2020 or sept 2021 (I haven't decided which year yet as i may wait until 2021 when youngest starts school)
We have had quotes for the lounge and our bedroom blinds £460 in total. Which was less than I thought (we have huge bay windows)
I went to my brother's graduation yesterday . It was amazing and I only spent money on fuel and parking
I got a coffee table off a selling site for £2 just needs a lick of paintwhich I already have
We painted our Welsh dresser we were given and added new handles removed the top piece. Giving us a side board for the dining room and it looks lovely. Total cost £14
I brought a dress off eBay for my brother's graduation for £20 still selling in the shops for £90 !
I got load of bedding for both the boys and clothes for the eldest for free !
We were going to pay someone to do our lounge floor quote was £500 . We have found a place where we can rent a Sander and edge sander for £70 for the week. We are going to do the lounge , our room and hopefully the guest bedroom ourselves hopefully won't cost a total of more than £200 including the cost of the wax etc so will save us a huge £1300 .
We are going to have to pay someone to plaster the lounge and dining room though as it's bare brick under the wallpaper. But we have decided we are going to strip the paper and paint the rooms ourselves so will save money on that.
I'm clocking up the clubcard points from spending so much on fuel.
We need to get a quote to get our gas fire removed in the lounge and our chimley opened back up And a wood burner fitted this is something we have always wanted in our home and will complete our lounge perfectly.
The aim is to get the lounge and possibly dining room ready for Christmas but it all depends how much I'll continue to spend on fuel to get to work
Nothing else to report hope everyone is well xJune 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/20460
