Brambling, I am the shortest and the widest in my family, argh!:o Oh and celeriac, I have never tried it. Mostly because I can't stand celery. I must try it one day.
Need2bthrifty, I smoked in my teens and twenties as an appetite suppressant and struggled when I gave it up too, 30 years ago. I still miss it to this day, but obviously will never start again. Besides, a pack is £10 nowadays!
So today is day 7 of the diet, I am pleased to have got this far although I am finding the fasting days (where you don't eat anything until the evening), quite tough. I was looking at the records I kept from my last weight loss journey and it took me well over a year to lose 100+lbs and I am not sure if I can manage a fast day every other day for a whole year. Maybe I will get used to it as time goes on. I could always go back to calorie counting, which I know works, if all else fails.
Anyway, yesterday's food
B - overnight oats with blueberries
L - soup
D - fried veggies (with spray oil) and butter beans, followed by blueberries and Alpro yoghurt, followed by too many ryvitas with a scraping of marge.
(The veggies were mostly from the garden):j31.5/1000 -
Hiya everyone!
Today I've eaten;
B boiled egg
L soup and dry toast
T shepherds pie and veg
Will have an apricot and little bit of cereal at bedtime.
Haven't felt hungry at all today... that's a first!!
I'm going to do my weigh-in on Thursday, as that'll be a week since I came on board.
My trigger was tipping over a weight and BMI threshold and being horrified, also recently I've had really painful ankles. Partly due to weakness with my condition, and the weight certainly won't be helping anything. It's a good question and interesting to hear peoples' answers.A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -

FrugalLina I'm no longer the widest (just) but with 3 sisters under 5 foot my 5.3 and a half is tall. I don't really like raw celery but use it a lot for cooking, I find celeriac is a lot milder taste
Tighteningthebelt I can relate to the painful ankles although my hands are often alot worst, being lighter does ease the knees and ankles but we've all seem to have inherited arthritis from my mum unfortunately
I've been lazy today I had planned to tackle the jungle aka the back garden but decided it was too hot for heavy labour so I've pottered indoors including cooking for this week's lunches. I've may a big pan of chicken and vegetable soup and a gammon and vegetable frittata (Based on a old SW crustless quiche recipe adding FF cottage cheese to the eggs)
B -
L - gammon salad
D - Repeat of yesterday using LOs just microwaved
S - two fruit oat cakes, fibre one brownie, pearLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
B: beans, tomatoes, green beans, egg
L: hm SW pan fried pork and mushrooms with pasta and cabbage2 slices toast with slices of tomato and 30g cheddar grated over top
S: 1 glass red wine, 1 apple, 1 orange
Steps: 33,627
Taking week's steps to 152,520. i was aiming at averaging 20k a day so happy with that.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hiya!!
I've been doing sums and conversions and setting goals.
I have 58.5lb of weight to lose to get me to the heavy end of the healthy BMI. I think that will be both tough and possible.
I initially toyed with the idea of setting Easter as my end date, but decided that might be a bit ambitious as it would mean a touch over 2lb a week every week without fail.
If I change that to the still tough but more sustainable 1.5lb a week that's 39 weeks, so the 15th of June.
So that's my target... To lose 58.5lb, at 1.5lb a week, bringing me into the healthy weight range BMI by the middle of June 2020.
(Think that's Specific Measurable Acheiveable Realistic Time based!!!)
(Don't change anything on here til the next quarter though, don't want to confuse things or put you to any bother) I wanted to announce it on here to remove it from the musings category and make it official and public.
I'll stick on here as long as it's running. I appreciate the encouragement and support, and it helps me to be accountable with my daily meals.
I like the smiley faces, it's like badges - everyone likes badges!! Can I just check their meanings, I think I've worked it out... STS is stayed the same, blue smiley lost 0.5lb, yellow smiley lost 1lb, red smiley gained 0.5lb, sinister green grinning smiley gained 1lb?
Thank you so much for running the thread Brambling, it's a very real help. :TA bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it

I am now on countdown until my holiday to France - getting excited! :j
Brambling, I shall buy some celeriac and try it on my next shopping expedition (post holiday).
Tighteningthebelt, I think that is a very achievable goal (very SMART), go for it, we are here to cheer you on!
Yesterday's food, it was a fast day and I found it a lot easier, despite being around other people who were eating:
B -
L -
D Large bean burger and roasted veggies, followed by blueberries and Alpro yoghurt, followed by ryvitas and an orange
I've also charged my Fitbit and will start a little walking, I can't do much because I have injuries that are still bothering me, but some activity is better than none.31.5/1000 -
Afternoon All,
A STS for me, well .25 but Im not counting that cause that could have disappeared after my cup of coffee :rotfl:
So its a use-up day for me today, had some l/o pizza with a side salad for lunch, I did contemplate having it for breakfast but decided on greek yoghurt & prunes instead. On purpose I made double quantity of risotto on Saturday so will have baked arancini with tomato/basil sauce & green beans tonight.
Tighteningthebelt - Well done on taking the biggest step and setting your targets, it took me a couple of weeks to gear up to it. I'm a planner and list maker otherwise hunger and laziness push me into making bad choices. Yesterday I planned my main meals for the next 9 days, but lunches, breakfasts & snacks get fine tuned around what needs using or is leftover.
FrugalLina - I don't miss the cigs at all in fact I've turned in to one of those ex-smokers who detests the smell and hates having to stand behind a smoker in a queue, I find myself thinking I used to smell like that .
I'm pea green with envy, I had a lovely holiday in France a few years ago, also R.E.S.P.E.C.T to you for your fasting determination, I doubt I could go most of the day without food, I'm more of a little and often kinda gal. Although I have found some good recipes and ideas on a couple of food blogs where they have done the 5/2.
Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £0 -

I'll plan more when my darling boy gets his bum back to uni tomorrow, I can reassert my kitchen (and laundry) dominance then. I agree totally about planning. Last time I lost weight i used to plan and shop for the week, and then lay the next day's food out in a line on the worktop - after I'd eaten tea the day before. With post it notes with the time on! That's because I never seem to know I'm hungry til my head has gone and no good decisions ever come out of that fog.
Re cigarette smell - I'm the opposite, gave up 2013, hardly ever want one, but if I smell it I'm like the bisto kid!!
FrugalLina thanks for the cheering!
B - egg mayo sandwich with rocket leaves (late)
L -
T - (early) keema and mini naan with salad
S - usual 25g cereal and apricot
Might make up a jelly for tomorrow.A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -

I think 1.5lb is a reasonable target to set yourself, are you allowing for some leeway over Xmas? It's been a slow plod for me I lost 2 stone last year between 1st July and Christmas and it's taken me all 2019 so far to lost nearly another stone  it's been two steps forward one step back. I can confirm icons as- lb off
- 1/2lb off
- 1lb on
- 1/2lb on
STS - stay the same
Need2bthrifty I have updated your STS and will re do the list later
FrugalLina you can boil and mash celeriac as well, some recipes say boil in milk I don't. I prefer it mixed with other root vegetable which i usually boil together cut to different sizes to allow timing variation and mash together with black pepper no need for butter. I would start with a small onebut it does last a long time in the fridge with just the cut end going brown.
Back at work today with major system issues so i'm trying to avoid eating too much and the office biscuit tin.
B - banana and pear
L - HM chicken and veg soup, small slice of frittata
D - not sure yet but will include gammon
S - Apple, fibre one brownie, 2 cheese oat cakesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Well, a STS is better than a gain, Need2bthrifty, hopefully there will be a good loss next week to make up for it.
Thanks for the encouragement re the fasting. It is alien to me, too, I am normally a little and often type of person as well, so it is interesting to see how I get on, long term.
Tighteningthebelt, your food looks on point today.
Brambling, I am definitely going to try the mash with the root veggies, it sounds delicious. :T
Today isn't a fasting day, I am glad to say, but my stores are low because I don't want to shop before I go away, so I am eating weird and wonderful concoctions!
B - Overnight Oats with raspberries
L - Butternut squash soup
D - More soup followed by quinoa and vegan sausages and salad.
I will probably have some more raspberries with Alpro yogurt later and maybe an orange.31.5/1000
