  • Today was a lot easier. :)

    Salmon butty with salad.

Tuna butty with salad (tried some of that Hellmans lower than low mayonnaise -it was vile. )

    Grapefruits. Raw carrots. Frozen banana.

  • (tried some of that Hellmans lower than low mayonnaise -it was vile. )

I agree, I also bought 30% reduced fat salad cream I'm using it but wont buy again - its difficult to explain what I dislike about it, but its just not right, so I've stopped buying anything labelled low or reduced fat.

Its a lovely sunny morning here, the kind of day that has all the dopey wasps coming into the house, so I'm off out for my walk I badly need to catch up on my steps for this week.

B - greek yoghurt with lemon curd and sliced banana.
    S - hard boiled egg
L - celery soup, crispbread topped with cheese spread & sliced tomato
    D - tuna fishcakes, salad & sweetcorn
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £103.53
  • Yes, these messed about mayonaise and salad creams are awful. I tried the vegan one once and hated it. I just use those French-type dressings if I have anything at all on salads.

You are all doing so well with your eating - yay! :j

I survived day two! (Why does it feel so much longer?) Being a normal eating day, I could eat 3 meals, but because I was anxious about my smear test that never happened, I felt too queasy to eat breakfast, so made up for it in later meals. Today is another fast day. I am working from home, so there is less to occupy my mind and the kitchen isn't very far away. But I am determined.

    Yesterday:
    B -
L mushrooms on toast and soup
D falafels, pasta, grated carrot, tomatoes, avocado and chard followed by a paleo bar and some crispbreads later

Because Weds are going to be my normal weighing in day, I thought I would weigh myself this morning to keep things on track and for my own chart to start filling up. I have lost 2.5lbs and I know that is water weight/bulk of food in the system. Obviously, I will not be weighing myself every 2 days, it will just be Weds from now on.

Well done on the loss, it must be really encouraging after just two days.

I like a mixture of mayo and salad cream in my tuna and egg sandwiches or in a pasta salad so always have some in.

You've reminded me that I need to make an appointment at the health centre to get done too, I must be due the bowel screening envelope soon as well then breast screening beginning of next year, it's all go for women of a certain age :D

  • Hi,
Dropping in to say hello to everyone.
I'm intending to join you properly in part 4 if that's ok.
I've already started losing weight, my trousers are a bit looser but my scales have packed up, so I've ordered new digital ones. I need to lose an a formidable 30kg to bring me into the healthy weight range (I'll work that out in lbs!), though I will split it into small chunks so I can feel some progress. I'm also hampered health wise, so I don't have the same run - walk - bike - swim options for burning calories as I used to, which has been a big factor in my gaining weight. My weakness is eating when I'm tired instead of resting a while and pacing myself, and that is now habitual. Still we are where we are, and I can't start anywhere else!
As a person I generally achieve better with accountability. Reading back through the posts you all seem friendly and very supportive of each other. I'm happy to have discovered you. I'll get my metric converted to imperial, await the new scales, sort my targets and catch up soon.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

DundeeDoll, your food is on point - and your steps!

Thank you Need2bthrifty, it may only be water weight, but it is encouraging to lose weight already. Good luck with all those tests, they may be unpleasant, but they are very important.

Oh, Brambling, it is hard to get back on track after a holiday, but as you say, draw a line under it and start afresh.

Welcome Tighteningthebelt, I am new here too and have quite a way to go before I get in the healthy weight range also. I am glad you are starting already and I am sure you will love your new digital scales, the modern ones even show small losses and that is encouraging on those weeks where older scales refuse to show a loss. Like you, I can no longer do the aerobic exercise that I used to do, but aim to get to the gym and ride the bikes and lift some gentle weights next week. I was inspired years ago when a woman came to the gym in her wheelchair and got on with it. If she can do it, so can I!

    Edited to add yesterdays food:

It was a fast day, so just liquids until dinner when I had a large bowl of homemade veggie soup, avocado on 2 slices of toast, an apple, a paleo bar and 2 ryvitas (with marge and marmite) later.

    Hi tighteningthebelt  welcome

There's nearly three weeks left to this challenge so you can either set a mini target just let me know what it is or If you need to think about it you can just post I'll add you to qtr 4 just post a target when we start or I'll forget.

As you can see we're a lovely supportive group on here

Well done on the loose trousers, just don't forget the belt it took a while for me to look my elderly neighbour in the eye after almost mooning him when I stood up from gardening last year :eek: luckily half moon not full but still very embarrassing and never mentioned by either of us (I do miss him now he's gone :( )
