Well done on the loss, it must be really encouraging after just two days.

I like a mixture of mayo and salad cream in my tuna and egg sandwiches or in a pasta salad so always have some in.

You've reminded me that I need to make an appointment at the health centre to get done too, I must be due the bowel screening envelope soon as well then breast screening beginning of next year, it's all go for women of a certain age :D
What age do we get bowel screening? I am afraid I have never given it a thought.
I will be sticking to proper mayonnaise in future.
    Hi,
Dropping in to say hello to everyone.
I'm intending to join you properly in part 4 if that's ok.
I've already started losing weight, my trousers are a bit looser but my scales have packed up, so I've ordered new digital ones. I need to lose an a formidable 30kg to bring me into the healthy weight range (I'll work that out in lbs!), though I will split it into small chunks so I can feel some progress. I'm also hampered health wise, so I don't have the same run - walk - bike - swim options for burning calories as I used to, which has been a big factor in my gaining weight. My weakness is eating when I'm tired instead of resting a while and pacing myself, and that is now habitual. Still we are where we are, and I can't start anywhere else!
As a person I generally achieve better with accountability. Reading back through the posts you all seem friendly and very supportive of each other. I'm happy to have discovered you. I'll get my metric converted to imperial, await the new scales, sort my targets and catch up soon.
    Welcome, tighteningthe belt. :)
i have the same problem with tiredness. Food is a good substitute for sleep.
I need to get into bed before i am too tired to move past the fridge!

B: beans, tomatoes, spinach and egg
    L: 1 round sandwiches; 8 olives; apple
D: chili and rice; 2 satsumas
S: small cake; yoghurt; glass red wine
    Steps: 17.467
I find looking at everyone's food very encouraging, because we all appear to be eating non "diet" food and are slowly but surely losing weight. :)

    Yesterdays scoffing...

Cold steak. Omelette. (fluffed with the extra egg white mountain)

Frozen bananas. Raw carrots. Peanut butter and jam on toast.

Honey - I'm sure bowel screening in England used to be 60 -74 (I'm still too young :D ) but I'm sure I saw somewhere that they are going to be amend it to start at 50 which I think is what is in Scotland already. At least it won't involve squashing any part of your anatomy between two plates :rotfl:

I didn't realise there was a difference for bowel screening, yes its 50 in Scotland, I remember returning from my holiday treat to the Amalfi coast to find nestled amongst the birthday cards this large envelope from the nhs and I thought they could have waited a couple of weeks :rotfl:

I managed to get some gardening done this morning before the rain; I'm hoping the grass only needs doing once more really to hoover up the leaves rather than cut the grass.

I had some hm muesli/overnight oats with yoghurt & honey first thing, lunch was more of a use up than a meal - slice of ham, slice of cheese, melon, hard boiled egg, a tomato & crispbread.

I love onions and thought I would try baking some in the slow cooker and I was pleasantly surprised how nice they were, had them with last of the cauli, some green beans and drizzled with cheese sauce, not the lowest calorie meal I've had :D.

    Hi tighteningthebelt  welcome

There's nearly three weeks left to this challenge so you can either set a mini target just let me know what it is or If you need to think about it you can just post I'll add you to qtr 4 just post a target when we start or I'll forget

Thank you for all your nice welcomes. Please could you put me down for a mini target of 2lb by the end of quarter 3. I was holding off because I thought it would be mean to ask at this stage. Thank you.

Funny story about the mooning. There's a lot to be said for never referring to something again :)

Will start posting meals tomorrow now I'm properly on board.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks
  • Today I have lost NOTHING! ZILCH! EXACTLY THE SAME! *sigh*.

    Never mind.

    Yesterdays food...

Beef curry with rice and vegetables.

Mashed potato on its own.

  • I once had a neighbour who, um, more than mooned me with a very flappy dressing gown on a windy Scottish morning. We never talked about it again either, LOL.

Honeythewitch, I am sure your scales will be more cooperative next week, they are tricksy little beggars at times!

    Yesterday's food was:
B - overnight oats with blackberries from the garden, yum.
L - soya cappuccino as I was out with my DIL, wasn't sure of the calories so had nothing else.
D - Soup followed by a stir-fry with weird vegan kebab meat, an apple, Alpro yog and raspberries and some ryvitas with marge later.
    31.5/100

Totally agree. I want to get to target (not far to go now) but then i want to stay there - been on far too many yo yo diets, with fantastic initial losses, then ending up more than i started. for me slowly but surely, eating food that i enjoy, being aware but not over zealous.

    So for yesterday
B: beans, tomatoes, spinach and an egg
L: carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, 2 slices hm brown bread, hummus
D: hm chili (lean mince, no added fat), slices of melon
S: 30g cheddar cut into thin slices yum, 1 glass red wine also yum

  • Good afternoon and welcome tighteningthebelt :hello:

Mashed potato on its own.

:rotfl: I do that too , its so lovely and comforting - on its own is fine, sometimes with grated cheese on top, sometimes a squirt of hp sauce, mmmm ..... lovely

Another sunny day here, had my walk and thought I would have a go at scarifying the lawn :( - there is so much moss in it, its like walking on a sponge.

    Meals today =
B - slice of toast, cheese triangle, cucumber & tomato
L - feta and beetroot salad, crispbread
    D - cottage pie, peas & sweetcorn

I do my cottage & fish pies in this mini pie dish, https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/falcon-16cm-rectangular-enamel-pie-dish hardly seems worth putting the oven on for but I do love the crispy mashed potatoes on top :D

Hello to all of the newbies

Despite having great intentions at the start of this challenge I'm another one who eats when stressed or unhappy so am currently probably quite a bit more than when we started - I'm kind of burying my head in the sand at the moment and avoiding the scales - but I still enjoy reading through everyone's posts and find them really comforting. You never know, I may actually buck my ideas up and manage to take part properly for the next part :D
