Totally agree. I want to get to target (not far to go now) but then i want to stay there - been on far too many yo yo diets, with fantastic initial losses, then ending up more than i started. for me slowly but surely, eating food that i enjoy, being aware but not over zealous.

    So for yesterday
B: beans, tomatoes, spinach and an egg
L: carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, 2 slices hm brown bread, hummus
D: hm chili (lean mince, no added fat), slices of melon
S: 30g cheddar cut into thin slices yum, 1 glass red wine also yum

This might explain why I am so porky, but I thought 30g of cheese was a thin slice! :D
Good afternoon and welcome tighteningthebelt :hello:

:rotfl: I do that too , its so lovely and comforting - on its own is fine, sometimes with grated cheese on top, sometimes a squirt of hp sauce, mmmm ..... lovely

Another sunny day here, had my walk and thought I would have a go at scarifying the lawn :( - there is so much moss in it, its like walking on a sponge.

    Meals today =
B - slice of toast, cheese triangle, cucumber & tomato
L - feta and beetroot salad, crispbread
    D - cottage pie, peas & sweetcorn

I do my cottage & fish pies in this mini pie dish, https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/falcon-16cm-rectangular-enamel-pie-dish hardly seems worth putting the oven on for but I do love the crispy mashed potatoes on top :D

There is a bit of a theme here. :o My pies are done in the bigger version. :D

I bulk the plate out with veg and love this time of year when most of the root veg/brassica's are in season - soon be time for my favourite - brussels sprouts :D

Nice to see you Izadora :) I believe that your head needs to be in the right place to diet which is why I'm no good at starting on the 1st January  You know where we are when you're ready :)

Honey I was going to say a STS is better than a gain but I know how annoying that can be if you've worked hard for a loss :).

Need2bethrifty I agree re the root veg, I love a mix mash (carrot, swede, parsnip, celeriac and turnip) but you can keep the Brussels unless you intend to stir fry with onions, garlic and bacon :) are those dishes for one or more? As I'm looking for individual ones

B - Greek yogurt, banana, figs and greengages
L - seafood sticks and cottage cheese salad
D - rump steak, air fried chips, onion, mushrooms and tenderstem broccoli
S - fibre one brownie bar, pear, two clementines

  • Today.

    Eggs on toast.

Wholewheat spaghetti with pesto and protein cheese.

    Plums.

    2 biscoffs. :):)
  • Ahh, Need2bthrifty, brussels are my favourite veg too. I have some growing in the garden and can hardly wait for them to be ready.

Izadora, it has taken me a year to get my head in the right place to diet and I have piled on the weight during that time. I hope your brain gets there soon.

What is everyone's trigger moment? That final straw that made you grab the bull by the horns and decide to lose the weight?

Mine was a combination of physical symptoms, pain and discomfort and a horrible day trying on dresses for a wedding (when a lot of tears were shed).

    Yesterday's food (another fast day)
    B
    L - soup
D - weird vegan meat and a stir fry, followed by raspberries and Alpro yoghurt, followed by a lot of ryvitas.

They are individual and look tiny, but they hold 8 fl oz of water and provide a perfect portion for me with no leftovers. Personally I find second day cottage or fish pie doesn't taste so good and a bit dry so I try to avoid it. Other stores have the same style dishes but slightly larger, they would definitely produce seconds/leftovers or a very large portion.

I only discovered the delights of celeriac about 3 years ago and love it in particular nigel slaters baked celeriac with butter, lemon & thyme.

Its not such a nice day out there so I'll do some more decluttering and decorating prep in the front bedroom.

    Meals today =
B - overnight oats with stewed rhubarb
L - tuna & cucumber sandwich, then some fruit
D - chicken, leek & broad bean risotto with tomato salad and slice of garlic bread

I had to buy some wine for my risotto , I'll treat myself to a couple of glasses and probably some salted popcorn this evening whilst I watch strictly the prof's.

Thanks Need2bthrifty I'll look next time I'm in S*insbury. I like to make Boulangere potatoes and celeriac works well layered with the potatoes and onions. I have to be careful I don't have too much celeriac, I made a lovely celeriac, sweetcorn and chicken soup last year and felt really bloated and blah for a couple of days after eating although I suppose it could have been mixing with the sweetcorn  I'll look out for the Nigel slater recipe. A big bottle of wine is cheaper by the ml than a small bottle so I understand you are being :money: :D

FrugalLina my trigger moment is a combination of several things - I know I feel healthier when I eat better and weight less, the realisation that I was the biggest I have ever been, a family history of high blood pressure,, strokes and heart disease and one sister not dealing very well with type 2 diabetes and panic / vanity at the start of last summer when the weather suddenly changed and I had nothing that fit :o I'm from a big family in both number of us and size and no one wants to be the biggest when we get together

Trip to the hairdresser for cut and colour this morning followed by lunch with my sister at the local farm shop

    B -
L - bacon, mozzarella and mushroom toastie
D - roast chicken, Boulangere potatoes and celeriac, runner beans and purple sprouting
S - cinnamon bun (my nephew had been baking again and saved me one ) and Fredo chocolate bar

  • Morning All,

FrugalLina, I hadn't weighed myself for quite a while, the scales being stowed away under the bed in the spare room, I knew I was overweight but didn't realise how much. I got quite a shock when I stepped on and was near to 12 stone when up until my 50's and a smoker I was always between 9.5 and 10, I have no desire to pick up the fags again so here I am.

I love boulangerie potatoes and haven't made them for a while but will definitely try putting some celeriac in next time.

Its turned into autumn very quickly in these parts so for me its soup making season. Currently have a big pot of scotch broth simmering away which I'll have for lunch today and tomorrow and freeze the rest.

I have some peppers that need using up so I'll make a vegetable pizza for tea tonight. Sainsbugs had their greek basil plants reduced so I picked one up to try and omg for such tiny leaves they don't half pack a punch, so they will be carefully scattered on the pizza too :D
