  • Thanks need2bthrifty, lots of great hints there. I had forgotten about sugar snap peas, they are delicious to snack on. Sometimes I buy those little packets of shelled peas to eat raw because they are so yummy.

Oh, I have been drinking extra water today and I am fed up with going to the loo!

How wise to get smaller dinner plates, back to the size they used to be before they started getting larger and larger.

I have similar problems with boredom and bad habits, no need for it really, I always have something to do. I also find living on my own challenging when it comes to food, but it does mean that I can eat what I like when I like and I am no longer tempted by having someone else eat something tasty right in front of me while I am trying to stay on plan.

  • Well, my experiment of having the largest meal of the day in the morning has not worked at all and has simply doubled my calories because I end up even more ravenous than when I have nothing at all in the mornings!

    Food today.

Humongous amount of wholemeal spaghetti, pesto, and protein cheese.

    Corn on the cob.

Emergency chocolate cake because I was too hungry to get something sensible. :o

I shall go back to normal tomorrow! :D

FrugalLina I've added you to the list, there must be some balance between our sisters  I'm sure mine was trying to sabotage me, she's meant to be losing weight to but as well as scones, crumbles, apple sponge and custard there was the amount of oil in the roast potatoes etc. Just remember you're on holiday so have the occasional treat :). Like you I live alone which has both benefits and disadvantages, but in the end I'm the one who brings the food into the house. Just remember that losing weight is like eating an elephant 'one bite at a time' I fInd it's easier to chunk it out in smaller amounts it's less daunting that way :D

Katie_J I'm another emotional eater unfortunately when stressed I reach for food, I also eat when happy, when alone, when socialising etc etc etc

Well done on the pound loss Need2bthrifty

Yesterday was a picky day, a healthy lunch followed by a afternoon and evening of grazing, I should have done some gardening and kept occupied  i would like to say I was totally back on track today but there were biscuits in the office, some brought in by me from Dorset as well as other colleagues coming back from holidays and I have no will power

B - FF Greek yogurt and fruit
L - prawn and egg salad
D- LO lentils and vegetables with pork fillet
    S- 3 biscuits

Honeythewitch not sure what else to suggest for the egg whites other than meringues, you can freeze them a make meringues or a roulade when you are feeding others :) I do make a meringue roulade using FF Greek yogurt mixed with a little lemon curd instead of cream and add raspberries, a small slice isn't too 'bad' as a treat and better than a lot of desserts

The roulade sounds very nice, thank you. I could use Stevia or something to make the lemon curd too, I think?

Because I only use a little lemon curd for this as a little goes a long way I tend to buy a jar rather than make. I use this recipe to make the roulade but do my own thing for the filling. The yogurt and lemon curd cuts through the sweetness and it's really quick and easy, my nephews ask for this version rather than cream

It's a recipe which I think allows a treat without being too 'naughty' Personally I think we all need the occasional treat I know if I don't it's easy to get fed up and say s*d it and slip back to bad habits which is probably why I'm on here

    This looks ideal.
I think I might attempt a chestnut version too. (Yellow sticker find. I got loads)
  • STS this week. may be Friday's lapse catching up with me, but feeling very upbeat that actually it's more a levelling out, as I lost 4 pounds the week before. For yesterday
B: beans, tomatoes, spinach and an egg
L: 1 round sandwiches and melon at student welcome lunch (eschewed the cakes)
D: slice steak pie, beans, carrots and broccoli
S: Fat-free plain yoghurt with 1tsp toffee sauce stirred in
    Steps: 24,356
Was offered a biscuit at a Uni event so took a mint club (which of course is wrapped) and brought it home for DD2 (who is very slim and very active) :A

  • Oops, Honeythewitch, at least you know what does and doesn't work for you. I think I would be the same if I ate a large breakfast, it usually makes me hungrier for some reason.

Brambling, I am lucky that my sister is so supportive, she has even been very encouraging of my vegan diet, as she has been vegetarian since a teen. Wise words about thinking in smaller chunks. I am designing a chart for myself to stick on the wall in the kitchen (I find it very motivating to see the line go down) and when I weigh myself, I will record the lbs, the stones/lbs as well as the kgs, so that means, I will almost always have a new deadline to aim for. Eg, getting below a certain stone or half stone, or getting below a round number in lbs or kgs. It sounds daft, but helps keep me going.:)

Staying the same is good, DundeeDoll, I think you are right about it balancing out. :A

I have just had a lucky escape! My doctor's surgery have been nagging me and nagging me to make an appointment for my smear, so I finally bit the bullet and made the appointment for this morning. I have been dreading it and dragged myself unwillingly there this morning. Only to be told that it isn't due until 2021 -yay! It was some mistake on the computer system. Phew. I received my flu jab anyway, so the trip wasn't wasted.

Yesterday was a fast day until dinner, so I just had soup, vegan burger, sweet potato and vegetables, followed by an apple and two of those delicious paleo bars that Aldi do. I think I may have crammed too much food into a short space of time!

Today should be a normal eating day, but I missed breakfast because I was too anxious about the smear, so I am now waiting for lunch as it is 11 o'clock and no point in having breakfast now.:rotfl:

  • Ooh, the ideal of lemon roulade , of course I love anything lemon.

I ran out of EV olive oil with all the salads I've been having and for years I've bought a greek one from sainsbugs but decided to try a spanish one for a change, on first tasting it seems to have a fruitier taste. I'm always wary of buying olive oil, years ago I bought an italian one that smelt like the stuff my mother got from the chemist when we were children, warmed it up on a teaspoon to put in our ears when we had earache - do people still do that?

Some lemon curd also fell into my basket , might have to have some in yoghurt for breakfast tomorrow.

    B - ham, cheese, melon & tomato
    L - feta salad
D - pesto pasta, roast red pepper
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £103.53
