Morning All
I've had a 1lb loss despite wandering off plan whilst I was poorly and going for easy options (toast and sandwiches and a few portions of oven chips) I did get back on track over the weekend with meal planning and sticking to it.
I picked up a nice looking cauli at the weekend, I dislike the texture of frozen cauli so it will feature strongly in this weeks plan in various disguises.
B - boiled egg, toast
L - salami pasta salad
D - sweet potato falafel, roast cauliflower & tahini sauce, crunchy slawJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

I've noticed that it's always carbs I fancy when feeling ill never fruit or veg  I've eaten very little this past week and when I have it has been crackers or cereal so I can relate. Hope you're now feeling betterLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Despite my cold I got out for a run yesterday. Felt a bit groggy before I went but I actually felt very good once I was out and the sunshine helped too.
I had a good days sticking to the food plan, with a large helping of fruit and yoghurt for lunch and a lovely salad with lots of yummy bits for tea. I did have a small piece of fruit cake and a biscuit with tea later in the evening.
My throat is pretty sore today but I don't feel too bad otherwise. I'm continuing with the hot water and lemon, which I'm finding really comforting. Will have a wander into town for a few bits at lunch too.0 -
Morning All,
Thanks Brambling I am feeling much better and hope you are too. I hate summer colds they seem to hang around like a bad smell, thankfully I can breathe a lot better so can pick up the pace again when I go out walking.
S_glover I admire people who go out running, I did think briefly about doing the couch to 5K when I gave up smoking but that was very briefly, I don't think my knees or ankles could stand it.
I made too much salad and dressings yesterday so meal plan for today has changed slightly

-3lb for me this week, not a surprise as I've had no appetite at the moment, my sister tells me I should thank her for the germs  I've told her I had it worst than her because of my asthma
.
I've not been cooking so today I ate my breakfast fruit for lunch and then cheese, crackers and tomatoes for dinner. I'm eating at friends tomorrow night so I'm hoping someone else cooking a roast chicken will kick start my appetite.

Sorry you haven't been feeling at all well Brambling. Well done with the weight loss even if it was a little enforced.
Need2bthrify - I never considered myself a runner and had a real mental block on running of anything more than a few minutes, until I signed up for the London marathon in 2007, in a moment of madness and I've never looked back. I know a lot of people who have done the couch to 5 K and found it really worthwhile, one of my colleagues at work runs a group regularly who work together on it. I'm also a big advocate for Parkrun, they are held in parks all over the country on Saturday mornings at 9am. The routes are all 5k and it's for everyone, even if you want to walk it. They are all very inclusive and most have a meet up for coffee etc afterwards if people are interested.
Anyway enough of my waffle. I had a reasonable day yesterday, nice walk out at lunch. Didn't feel too bad despite a pretty sore throat. I woken up this morning with my throat a bit less sore and no snuffles, so I'm hoping I've dodged a full blown cold. I won't speak too soon though!0 -
I was maybe a little premature in talking about my cold yesterday as it's definitely gone up in my head a bit more. Having said that I don't feel too bad at all and got out for a 5 mile run yesterday lunchtime.
My nose was stuffy and dripping last nigh which didn't make for a great night's sleep but never mind.
Another good day food wise yesterday. In the evening we made oat and sultana cookies and banana and choc chip loaf, in preparation for guests at the weekend. It would have been rude not to test them out before hand so we tried a little of each and thy were yummy.
I'll be out for a walk this lunchtime and will be kicking off the weekend with Parkrun tomorrow morning. As the weather looks good for the weekend we'll no doubt be out and about walking, so hopefully that will offset some of the little treats we have and I can report some good news after weigh in on Monday.
Hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend.0 -
Evening all
hope you are all enjoying the weather and bank holiday weekend. just to let you know I'm off to Dorset early tomorrow, one of my sister has a static holiday caravan in West Dorset (where they film Broadchurch if you watch it) I've two weeks off work but not sure how long I will spend down there, it depends if I overdose on family (I'm originally from Dorset so there are alot down there). They have chosen to have no internet in the caravan so unless I can hotspot from my phone to my tablet i may be offline for up to two weeks. I will catch up when I get back as we are heading to the last month of the challenge.

Hello all, sorry that I've been missing and I hope I haven't missed too much. The school holidays have proved rather chaotic. The week before last weekend I had a miserable teenager with "no friends" apparently so I had to offer to do things with him and his friends to encourage him/them. Now he's talked to some of them it seems that they were all feeling much the same but none of them bothered to organise anything. I was seriously worried about him for a few days.
The weekend of that week we went to stay with my better half who is very good with the House Troll so we both came home a lot happier than when we set off. In view of this, weight loss has taken a bit of a back seat. I weighed myself on Monday morning and I was 14-10. I'm hoping to be less than that on Monday coming
Brambling, moisture helps the asthma and cough. Pour boiling water in a mug then breathe in the steam (be careful not to burn yourself). I always find it hard to remember that it's getting the old air out rather than new air in when I'm struggling. Try breathing in for the count of 2 but blowing out (a bit of effort but not like you're blowing up a balloon) for the count of 4. That's the way I have to breathe when I'm running (except the in and out breaths are a longer count than 2 and 4).0 -
Thanks Cranky
I think teenage boys are worst than girls sometimes when it comes to keeping in touch and organisting stuff together, I think they wait for each other to do it.
