    Hello All
Day off today so time to catch up on the housework!

So sorry to hear about your friends hubby Denise, so dreadfully sad x

Yesterday was a strange day at work couldn't open up til gone 10 as our manager (with keys) was stuck in traffic as trains all cancelled, we had to wait in McD and I resisted all food and drink despite all the the food being eaten around me!

    Plan for today
    B fruit
L might do some eggy bread with my hexb and salad
D tofu and noodle veg soup

DIMW, I like Sary am also doing it from home with no meetings, my books are a couple of years old so are not the most recent ones with the extra hexa but most info is available online (Google is your friend!) and this board is very supportive :happyhear

Loss this week for me of -3lb

Wow, thanks Bubbs for the list of Halo desserts. Didn't even know there were so many! Will have to have a look at them.

Joedenise. Doesn't wine dehydrate you and make you weigh less intially? Or am I going mad?

I am back at work and feeling so incredibly tired after my two weeks off, but also have a cold and not sleeping well, so not helping things. Luckily I am being eased in gently as I am off again tomorrow, yay!

My girls go to their dad's for the weekend and so I was going to make nice recipes from the website that I know they won't eat. Not sure what, but will have a look. Definitely something saucy as I am missing that a little bit!

I found some cod fillets reduced in CoOp the other day and they are in my freezer. Was just going to have them tomorrow for dinner, but not sure what with. I was going to use lemon juice and garlic and wrap the fish in foil, but it doesn't help with my bland sides.

I don't mind using a few syns for sauces. Would Bisto cheese sauce be ridiculous on syns? Should I just stick to a Dolmio tomato type one? I know I should make my own, but I'm still on the first week and not sure I can deal with the faff of it, especially if I am thinking of a curry or something for Sat and Sun.

Plus (as it's almost the weekend), if rum is the lowest spirit, what brands do people normally get? I don't think I've had rum since I went to Barbados in 2009!

Re joining a group tomorrow (but then not being able to go for two weeks), my friend goes on a Tuesday (different place, but same leader who she says is nice) and she said that she thinks we might get a free session if I wait and she recommends me or something, so maybe I will just wait until 27th September and either go then or see how I am doing by myself (and you lovely lot!).

Thank you everyone for your condolences. It's so sad, everyone was so happy on Friday that he had gone into remission. Life is so unfair sometimes.

Good luck Arkers with your treatment..

That's a good amount of Speed today. We did a thing on here a few years ago where we would add up the number of Speed foods we had each day, it was like a mini challenge. It's amazing how many you can fit in one day sometimes! Think I managed 21 on a couple of days. It's easier when you're making soups and stews.

That's terrible Denise, so sad at such a young age.

Pollyanna Bisto cheese sauce is 1 syn per tsp so depends on how much you usually use. I tend to go for cheese sauce mixes, either Colmans or Schwartz. They say it makes 4 portions so that would be 2 Syns per portion but DH and I are greedy and half each! So 4 syns for our portions - I often add some of my HEA grated cheese on top as well.

Back when I used to do things without thinking about syns and cals etc. I used to put three heaped tbsp of Bisto Cheese Sauce with (I think) 250ml milk and then stick it in the microwave. It was basically half the amount they told me to use as it's only me who likes it!

Hmm... will have to rethink this. Maybe I could cut down to 2tbsp (which is still 6tsp!!!) and use water. Still 6syns quite a lot for just a sauce. Might look into an alternative.

Still haven't looked into what I am going to cook over the weekend. Who'd have thought that I actually have to work while at work, eh?!

The cheese sauce mix uses 300ml I use part of my HEA for my half of the sauce so it's 4 syns. I don't make anything with cheese sauce very often but am happy to syn it if I need to. I generally try and make dinners syn free or very low syn.

I found this one, so was thinking of doing it for my pasta (don't think I can stand more dry pasta) with my fish. I just won't add the ham.

    INGREDIENTS
    75g/2.5oz of fusilli pasta, uncooked
    2 slices of ham, chopped
    2 tbs of quark
    1/2 tsp of onion powder
    1/2 tsp of garlic powder
    1 tsp of dried parsley
    1 egg yolk
salt and black pepper to season
reserve 3 tbs of pasta water

    INSTRUCTIONS
Add the pasta to a saucepan of boiling hot salted water and cook till al dente
While pasta it cooking, add the quark, egg yolk, onion powder, garlic powder and dried parsley to a bowl and mix to combine.
Once pasta is cooked, drain (reserving 3 tbs of pasta water
Stir in the ham to the pasta
Add the reserved pasta water into the sauce and whisk to combine.
Add the sauce into the pasta and stir continuously on a very low heat till creamy
Season as needed with salt and black pepper
