I think I may become a regular on here as I love reading about everyone's day. And if being on a diet helps with the less drinking (as long as I stay focused), it can't be bad.

My menu for today (okay calorie wise (1,214), but not sure syn wise:-

    B - Coffee

    L - Ham / salad sarnie. Bread 9; spread 3?
WW Yogurt Need to know flavour but say 1
Hula Hoop Pufts 15g bag 3.5

    D - Garlic Chicken 1
Potato Wedges - if frozen & baked using Frylight 2
Peas Free; but not a Speed food better to use other veg like green beans, carrots etc

S - Alpen Bar 3.5 but can count as 0.5 HEB
2 x Teas milk in tea as part HEA - you can have different amounts, eg 250ml Semi skimmed

So, if I have been following it right, my syns will be:-

2 x white bread (yes, I know it is evil and normally I don't eat bread, but my youngest persuaded me to buy a loaf and I don't want it to go to waste)

    Hula Hoop Pufts

The garlic sauce I put on the chicken (it was a Maggi thing that you season the chicken in a bag and then bung it all in the oven - bag and all.

    HEA - milk
    HEB - Alpen Bar

Any ideas on my syns? I know it will be worse than usual cos of the bread, but I can deal with that.

I've listed the syns in red above.

A total of approx 18.5 but I've assumed you've only had 100g of wedges and used frozen ones. If you made the wedges yourself then they would be Free.

If you have a lot to lose (think it's if you're over 16 stone but not certain) this would be within syns as you're allowed 20 per day. If you lower than 16 stone then it would be 5-15 syns a day.

    Hope that makes sense.

I think that the Maggi mix is 4.5 syns but as you probably shared it with the family then it's not too bad per portion. :)

I'd add that you really need to eat at least a third of the Speed fruit and veg across a day to make SW work. All you've had is the salad in your sandwich. :(

And try not to think of SW as a diet. It's a healthy eating plan. That's not just a marketing ploy. The syns total and the other guidelines just give an easy way of making sure that we eat a balanced menu in the healthiest proportions. Also if you think of it as a diet then you'll be more likely to go back to your normal ways after a while. :)

Wow, honestly thought I had done quite good today. Will have to have a read up on these speed foods.

But... I knew white bread was bad, oops. But I generally don't eat that. Completely forgot about the spread, oops.

I thought WW yogurts were free, but never mind.

Surprised about the maggi sauce thing as it was blooming gorgeous (three years out of date and found it in the cupboard, but hey what the kids don't know won't hurt them).

    Wedges were homemade using frylight.

But eek, have a lot to learn, but to be fair, without the sandwich (which I am having again tomorrow as out all day!), not too shabby, me thinks.

Rainbow sorry I misread the garlic sauce thing I quoted Syns for the flavour sheets - 1 syn was for a 5.8g sheet. Maman is right about the sauce.

The WW toffee and vanilla yoghurts are 0.5 syns each, doesn't show any other flavours on line.

If you post your plan on here the night before we could have a look at it and make suggests and show the syns for things you're planning to eat. Give this a try if you think it might be useful, will also give you some ideas about syns values and which foods are Speed and which as just Free.

Have a look at menu plans on here and you'll find some of these out anyway from those of us who post. I'll certainly start marking mine up with the P (for Protein) and S (for Speed), perhaps others might as well.

I'll post today's plan in a new post.

    Have sorted out today's plan:

With P, S, F, Syns for the benefit of Rainbow and other newbies:

    B - fruit - after WI; melon S
    L - LO cottage pie & veg - 5% minced beef P; onions S, carrots S, garlic S, peppers S, tin tomatoes S, tomato puree S, mushrooms S; potatoes F; green beans S, peas F
D - beef biryani - skirt beef P; onions S, garlic S, root ginger S, 25g almonds (HEB or 7.5 syns); 25g raisons (3.5 syns); dried spices F; rice F; FF natural yoghurt F; milk (part HEA or 100 ml 1.5 syns)

    HEA - milk
    HEB - almonds
Syns - raisons 2 (Syns listed are or 2 portions)

Sorry looks messy but didn't want to list as it would look very messy and be very long. If listing would be easier to red I can do it that way!

Off to WI in about half hour and will post later with results. Not expecting a loss with what I've eaten and drunk this week but a quick look on my scales it looks like it may be another half! If it is then it's more by luck than judgement!!!

Thank you so much, that is incredibly helpful. I will start making a list of various stuff now.

Today isn't going to be good. Same lunch as yesterday and we won't be back from the theme park until gone 6pm and I have said the kids can have frozen pizza.

Maybe the holidays isn't the best time to try and start this, but I am determined that it "isn't a diet" like people said, just a point of making better choices and if there are some bad days, then so be it. Surely the drop in alcohol intake will have some effect right?

I have found in the past that some people are very precious about giving out "points" or "syns" etc. and I kind of get their point. Why should they pay to go to group and me want it for free?

I am planning on a Friday group, but due to the schools being off and then me working two Fridays in September (not usual, but trying to help out the Friday girl - if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be able to work my four days a week!), the first Friday I can go to a group is 27th September! Need to look up to see if there are any others that I can maybe go to.

    So today,

B - Coffee (when back at work, I will be back on my banana and watermelon or maybe porridge breakie).

    L - Ham/salad sarnie
WW Yogurt (the dessert style ones)
    Hula Hoop Pufts

D - pizza (which I know is the worst of the worst. I have two wraps which if I have the energy and inclination to pop to the shops before coming home, I may make my own pizza. The wraps aren't WW, but I can live with that).

S - Alpen Bars (might as well eat 2 if it counts as my HEB).
    Tea

HEA - milk (and possibly cheese if I make my own pizza).
    HEB - Alpen Bars
Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
    Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
    (End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
    (End 2022) - Target £116,213.81

    Morning All

    Very belated birthday Beanie x
Well back from my little break with the kids, where I did not hold back and ate everything, happy (and surprised) with my small gain + 0.5

I have the rest of the week off and back to work on Monday.
Washing on the line and will be tackling enormous pile of ironing once that's dry.

Tomorrow we are off to Kew Gardens for the day so shall take a pecked lunch.

    Happy hols gtq

Welcome Rainbowpuddles I do not attend group, I have the books, although they not the newer version. I stay on track by a couple of fb groups and the massive support of this lovely group. Good luck x

    Today's plan
B toast and scrambled eggs (ds request) hexb
    L tuna and couscous salad
D I'm trying that beetroot pasta with feta that Nadiya made on her tv show a couple of weeks ago I shall cut the oil down to 1 tbsp so around 2 syns in between 3 of us and hexa the feta.

Good to see you back sirens . That's a tiny gain from a holiday. Well done.:T

Just a little bit more information. I'll post my menu later and happily annotate it like Denise did. I'm fortunate because I live in a big city with loads of groups every day but I don't worry if people do it from home. I'm glad to help. :)

The WW dessert yogurt is only 1 or half a syn depending on flavour.

Medium sliced white is 4.5 so 9 for a sandwich. If I was having tomato or anything 'wet' inside I wouldn't bother with spread.

Generally a wrap is 8 syns compared with 6 for the WW. That contrasts with a marguerita pizza from Pizza Express at 41.5 syns.

I thought that chicken mix was a good use of syns as it was shared. I might try one myself. :)

I think you're absolutely right to make a start now. Putting it off never lost any weight. :D

You'll find the cutting down wine is essential pollyanna . At at least 30 syns a bottle it's all good IYSWIM. :D

    Back soon. :)
