Sorry, no idea what this means.:o

Nor me but I'm wondering if it's a tattoo

You could just draw a line under today and move on pollyanna . As you say, it'll be easier for you to follow the plan properly when life is back to normal. I'd sit down soon and write a meal plan and a shopping list for next week. You may have to use up stuff you've got in but if it's not SW friendly you could feed it to the family. :D Longer term I wouldn't suggest separate meals though as you'll likely get fed up with cooking different things.

Are you planning to try to stick with 15 syns a day? Although it's not official SW policy, many of us eat fairly low syn during the week and save syns for weekends. It's worked for me and I like something to look forward to but others like a daily treat. What do you think? :)

I know this isn't the thread for it, but although I was over on syns (probably massively), it still was only 1,263 calories, so from that perspective, it was okay. And no alcohol was consumed. And I avoided the ice creams at the theme park. And I asked for my water bottle to be filled up from the tap, thereby saving expense and empty calories on a coke for example.

I have an added complication in my evening meals in that my mother cooks for me four times a week (lucky me eh, I'm 'only' 38, but she is my childminder, haha). She is on board with the whole thing of me losing weight, but then forgets and puts the biggest dollop of butter in carrots for example.

I also don't want to eat separate to my children, but it's just finding stuff that we can all eat. They're aren't fussy as such, but definitely have their favourites!

I have noticed that people save up their syns for the weekend. That's 105 right? I think I could do this. Good during the week and then a bit naughty at the weekends. I do like a packet of crisps with my lunch though, oops. And the alcohol, well, there's no off button when I start! But think I recognise your name from another thread on this site, so I've probably already mentioned this somewhere!

Pollyanna yes quite of few of us save our syns for the weekends. Even if you want to have crisps every day with your lunch then as long as you pick the lowest syns ones, about 3-4 it would still leave you with 70+ for the weekend.

As Maman says try to have more Speed foods as these are the low calorie foods which will help fill you up.

What alcohol do you usually drink? If wine or beer could you swap to spirits with a diet mixer to make lower son drinks. As mentioned previously a few of us have swapped to gin (or rum!) as much lower in Syns than either beer or wine.

    Today's plan:

    B - mushroom (S), pepper (S) & spring onion (S) omelette (P)
L - jacket potato (F), cottage cheese (P), salad (S) dressed with FF dressing (F)
    D - butchers low fat burger (0.5), HM chips (F), onions (S), gherkin (S), salad (S)

HEA - milk in tea (about 100ml); may have some cheese on burger
HEB - nothing planned but have Alpen & Hifi bars, Ryvita etc
    Syns - burger (0.5); rum @ 2.5 per 25ml :D

I hope we're not depressing you by raising the things we notice on your menus. It's kindly meant to try and help you get used to the SW plan. We need to praise you more for all the things you're doing right!:T:T You will lose weight by cutting calories so that's good. Syns are loosely based on calories anyway, I believe. You've made some excellent choices by avoiding synful stuff like ice cream and alcohol as you knew you'd be using syns for pizza and bread instead. And as well as being mse, drinking plenty of water is very helpful with weightloss. So well done.:T
I have an added complication in my evening meals in that my mother cooks for me four times a week (lucky me eh, I'm 'only' 38, but she is my childminder, haha). She is on board with the whole thing of me losing weight, but then forgets and puts the biggest dollop of butter in carrots for example.

Yes, lucky you!:D It'll be worth talking things through with your mum about how much the weightloss means to you whenever it's appropriate but I can see that it's a difficult situation. Perhaps you could suggest, for example, she puts butter out for people to add at the table.
I also don't want to eat separate to my children, but it's just finding stuff that we can all eat. They're aren't fussy as such, but definitely have their favourites!

It would help to know what their favourites are as many recipes can be adapted for SW and many things are very child friendly. For example, we're having burger and chips tonight which most children love. I'm having Speed veg with them but you could easily put theirs in a bun and have yours plain (or with lashings of fried onions). If you don't want salad on the plate then eat fruit afterwards to make up the Speed.

I joined the Cutting Down Alcohol thread before I started SW. It's really hard to tackle both things at once. In the SW magazines you often read about people who have a small glass of wine as a daily treat. That would never work for me. It's like giving someone who loves chocolate a tiny square and expecting them to leave the rest of the bar and eke it out through the week. (ironically I can do that with chocolate;)). You can have an awful lot of weekend wine for 105 syns but it does mean being disciplined during the week. Will you be able to have lunches other than a sandwich when you're back at work? SW is all about new habits whether it's wine syns or anything else. :)

Hope that's a bit helpful. Do ask any questions you like. SW has worked for us and we want it to work for you. :)

I'm off to WI shortly. I'm just hoping to get away with STS as with the Bank Holiday and the afternoon tea I must have gone well over syns. I'm almost afraid to post in case I jinx myself but I should have a clear SW week to stay on plan as next meal out isn't until Thursday evening.
ETA: Just realised that will only be 6 days until next Thursday WI. :(

I haven't decided on syns yet as it'll depend how [STRIKE]depressed [/STRIKE] motivated I feel after WI. ;)

Today's menu is using up lots of bits from the fridge before I do my weekly shop.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit (that's 250mls of free squash instead of fruit juice), HEB Weetabix with HEA milk, half banana (free not Speed)
L: Omelette (P) with Speed veg (peppers, mushrooms, spring onions etc), ham (P) and pickled cabbage (S)
D: HM burger (P), SW chips (free), fried onions (S) and pile of stir fried veg (cabbage, mushrooms, peppers, mange tout, baby sweetcorn) with soy and 5 spice (free)
Syns: Will decide later if any 'needed'.
