Hi all newbie here!
I’ve done SW many times before and been successful.
Now I am broke and have zero time to attend a class so google led me here:)
I have found a pdf of the latest plan on eBay for under £3 which I can do.
However, the last few times I’ve attempted SW and attended a class, it seems the rules have changed greatly.
No more free mullier lights (I used to love these) and every piece of food/snack/meal has to eat with 1/3 speed food?
Not sure if this is correct or not but it means I couldn’t just have a packet sauce pasta with a fry lite fried egg...staples for me lol!
Sorry to be a pain and not moaning...just wanting to check out the facts before I commit myself🙏🏻
Fingers crossed one of you lovely bunch can point me in the right direction❤️
Thanks heaps!!!0 -
Welcome Rainbowpuddles to the thread.
Would you be able to afford £15 so you could go to just one group and get the new books and new member talk?
You can still ha e the pasta in sauce packets but the aren't Free foods. Can't help with the syns at the moment as I never use them.
The one third Speed foods are a recommendation not a rule. Just try to have a third over the day.
I don't often have a third with breakfasts as some things just don't really go with the things I'm eating.
You can do SW on a budget particularly if you cut down on meats and use other proteins such as eggs and pulses which are Free foods as well. Stick to fruit and vegetables in season most of these are Free foods. Oats are a good cheap breakfast which you can have raw as overnight oats using cheap fat free yoghurt and frozen fruit, baked oats or just as plain porridge.
If you would like to post your menus on here we'll always be happy to help and advise and help with syn values.

Afternoon All,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEANIE :beer::bdaycake:_party__party_
Wishing you a wonderful day xx
Have had a few days off with OH, and we have had a few off-plan meals and treats, which are currently showing up on the scales  Hoping I can pull it back over the next 3 days, but if not, I will continue to keep the line drawn. We had a nice few days, and it wasn't crazy for the sake of it, just indulging when we fancied it inbetween other meals on plan.
Had a really busy day yesterday painting fences in the garden, and then OH and I erected a shed and I painted that too. When we checked the temperature at 3pm as we sat eating a solero and drinking diet Coke it was 37 degrees C!! I think we could have both melted at that point. I'm still feeling hot today even though I'm back in work - I think I'm like a brick that's been in the oven and still emanating heat.
So, food plan today:
B - banana
L - roast chicken salad (mixed leaves, tomato, cucumber) & savoury rice with dressing (2)
0% natural yogurt with nectarine, strawberries & mango
D - not yet decided what to have. OH is out for a meal so probably me and DS4 to fend for. I thinking skinny sausages may feature somewhere.... perhaps all day breakfast? Will update later.
Have tried my best to skim-read back the last few pages. Hugs to those that need them, well done to the losers, commiserations to the gainers (that'll probably be me too) and thinking of those not currently postingOne day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Got home from the hospital about 4pm today so a bit earlier than some weeks! Have finally got an appointment to see one of the consultants I've been referred to for 19 September. Fortunately they've arranged it for my local hospital so at least I haven't got to travel an hour each way to get there. Still have to go for the weekly visits for blood test and fluids until then, no idea how long after I've seen the consultant though.
Today's plan:
B - overnight oats
L - vegetarian scotch eggs, salad
D - pork steaks, potatoes & veg
Snack at hospital - bacon roll - 12 Syns (standard roll & spread, estimated 1Tbs!)
HEA - milk
HEB - oats
Syns - bacon roll 12
Well over syns this week so expecting a gain but as long as I'm still in target I'll be OK with that - if I've put too much on and have gone out I'll have to book holiday next week as I won't be going to WI.

Evening all.
Firstly, Happy Birthday Beanie! I haven't read back very far but saw it was your birthday so I hope you've had a great time.
Back from hols with a nice tan and, best of all, weighing exactly the same as before I went! I have eaten well on the whole, meals were all served buffet style with a fantastic salad bar, drinking loads of water and swimming daily has kept me on the straight and narrow, despite the ouzo our host insisted on plying us with.
I'll have a good read back later tonight after Bake Off - my substitute for actually eating cake!
Have a good evening.
I read that as happy 1st Birthday :rotfl: hope it was a great day Beanie :AIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Welcome rainbow. We're more than glad to help you come to terms with the changes. They aren't that major when you get used to them. I checked with the pasta n sauce and it's only half a syn for the usual tomato/chicken ones. It's the ones with cheese in that are higher syn but they always were. Fat free yogurts (like Total 0%) are still free as are a number of others. I think the problem was that many people were eating far too many Mullers. There are a number of those that are just half a syn though so no need to panic!:D Denise is right about the third of Speed food. Even SW say when it's appropriate. I aim for more like 50% at lunch and dinner so rarely have any at breakfast time. If you think you're not having enough then just snack on some satsumas or similar.pollyanna24 wrote: »Thank you. I think I will continue with the whole writing down of everything. I won't go madly counting everything, but as I've been getting the general gist of how many calories I have been eating, I will try and do the same with how many syns. I.e eat normal (ish) and find out from you lovely people how bad I have actually been!
Then when work is looming and the girls are back to school, focus on it more when I know what is good and what is bad! Although like I said, sometimes it's fairly obvious what is going to be high in syns!
It's a good idea to keep a note Pollyanna and then, very soon, you'll know your regular syns off by heart. As you said it's often obvious that things with fat, sugar, flour etc in them will be synful. The things you have to be careful with are pre-prepared foods. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many syns are in some 'healthy' salads and sandwiches. One bonus is that the new(ish) plan has introduced an extra HEA each day. As you know I post on the cutting down alcohol thread too and it's a great help. One of the things I've noticed is that wines below 12.5% are 30 syns per bottle whereas anything higher is more syns. Like beanie and denise I follow the gin diet too on days when I want to save syns.
I was pretty horrified today to read about the massive increase in the amount of take aways being consumed in the past few years. I suppose part of it can be explained by people eating at home rather than going out but considering I almost never have a take away then someone else must be having loads!!:rotfl:
Glad to hear you have an appointment at last denise. I suppose they think the fluids can't do any harm so they might as well carry on until the consultant gives an opinion.
I've decided not to go to my usual WI tomorrow as it clashes with this blood test and while I could go to a later one I'd rather go out for a walk with friends as planned. So I'll go to WI on Friday. I don't think it'll make a major difference to weight but it'll make life a bit easier. We still don't have our bathroom back. It's almost finished and looks great but we can't use it because of being messed around by the water board.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, baked beans, fried egg, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: cold meat, fried LO veg, beetrootbaked haddock, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauli steak, green stuff (not sure what yet) and SW chips
Syns: None!!0 -
Thanks TIE.

Boo to the waterboard Maman.
Yes, definitely beanie:mad::mad::mad:. We've been waiting two weeks for them to connect the new pipework to the meter for the metre or less of pipe that belongs to them outside out boundary. They're supposed to come tomorrow and then they can get on and finish everything.:)0
