My friend had Diabetes and after losing 4.5 stone she no longer needs medication. SW is actually very good for diabetes.
If you check out the SW website they have an article about slimming with diabetes. Definitely worth a read.
They have articles about quite a few different ailments.

Enjoy the sunshine! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Back again with today's plan as didn't post earlier as needed to get ready for a Dr appointment to check my BP yet again! He's fairly happy with it at the moment and doesn't want to see me for another check for a whole 2 weeks, LOL! Although I still have to go back to the hospital on Wednesday for another blood test to see if I need any further treatment. Seems really strange as they've actually sent a discharge form to the GP!
Anyway the plan for today:
B - baked oats, quark, strawberries, grapes & salted caramel skinny syrup - HEB
L - tuna mayo & cucumber sandwich - 6 Syns for bread; 0.5 for Tbs mayo
D - gammon steak, chips & beans; will have more strawberries, grapes & quark for pud
HEA - milk
HEB - oats
Syns - bread 6; mayo 0.5; maybe a couple of G&Ts 4

Afternoon all,
Been a bit AWOL again, sorry! Life is just too blimmin hectic right now. Have just had a very quick skim read of the past few pages - you lot can't half chat!
Bubbs, I'm feeling about 80-90% better than I was. Back is still a bit temperamental, but I did get to my exercise class last night and took things easy.
Had to take DS4 to A&E mid-week and spent hours there. Luckily nothing major, and I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of the NHS - they were absolutely marvellous.
Pleased to report -1lb loss this week, so that's a bit of damage limitation done after last week, and the previous gain off.
Today's meal plan:
B - banana & strawberry skyr (1)
L - mixed leaf salad, cucumber, tomato, carrot, mango/lime marinade chicken. Dressing (1)
snack - 0% greek yog with strawberries & mango
D - SW broccoli cheese mac ping meal
HEA - milk in tea/coffee
HEB - none planned atm
Extra syns - Costa Americano with cream (3)
Edited to add: HEA2 cheese on dinner. The SW Mac and greens meal is delicious!
Boss at work bought us all a costa, and as I’d already had a coffee I chose a cold drink. Went for the summer berry cooler which said it was NAS. That’s fine but the naturally occurring ones add up to 198 cals,so a huge hit on he syns. Thankful that I checked when I got back to the office with the drinks, so drank less 5sn half, and calling it 5 syns t be on the safe side.
Plan to be home this weekend, so meals will be fully on plan, and I'm going to make the quiche. We had SW friendly lasagne yesterday for dinner, and that was yummy and all free - yay!
Will catch up more over the weekend. Have a good oneOne day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Afternoon everyone.
Well done to all the losers - some good ones this week.
Weigh in day for me - STS (again). Apart from a few lagers last Saturday I have been completely on plan (and accounted for the syns in the beer) so I need tips for getting going again! This time last year I was 8lbs less than I am now. Apart from going back to basics totally (weighing everything, keeping a note of everything I eat etc) has anyone any ideas?? Just seem totally stuck.
Today's menu:
B Bran flakes, 0% yoghurt strawberries and a squirt of vanilla syrup (1)
L Ham and egg salad, nectarine (1/2 for LTL mayo)
D Don't know whether OH is here for tea so not sure yet. I've an Iceland SW meal in the freezer so could be that with extra veg.
Have a good weekend.0 -
Esmy - going back to basics is probably the best way of getting the weight loss moving again but if you don't want to go that way how about the 777?
You must have a 7 glasses of water; 7 syns and a minimum 7 pieces of fruit and/or vegetables. Alternatively you could see how many different fruits and vegetables you can eat per day. I did this a while back and was eating around 18 - 20 different ones a day! Kept track for about 10 days or so, even putting it on here for motivation.
Another one is to try and have a different HEB every day - that one usually works for me! Probably because I tend to usually have oats or bread every day and sometimes both which of courses uses up 6 syns as well!
A couple of ideas for you to try.

Gettingtherequickly wrote: »- 1/2 lbAnyone here diabetic? I have to see GP about results of blood tests after my gout, know one of them will be uric acid & my gut instinct says the other is diabetes related. Not going to stress, it is what it is and with weightloss, good chance of reversing. However, if it is, it could also explain why I am not really making any progress, which is a positive outcome. So if anyone here has it, does the "diet" need to be adjusted majorly?
Am sure bubbs managed to completely reverse her condition by losing weight :T:T:T, no doubt she will be along shortly.
Hope everyone is doing well, this heat puts me off eating full meals, but then I am prone to snacking .

Hope this isn't a stupid question but.... are the baked oats just porridge oats done in the oven, if so how long for?
Or are they grilled i.e. toasted oats?
Afternoon all.
Bubbs melons in Aldi were bigger than expected! :rotfl:curl girl with a space - even though there is no space in my cupboard!!!0 -

No question is a stupid question . And baked oats can be done all sorts of ways, I do mine in the airfryer and actually managed to do some banana ones in the omelette maker this week :rotfl: And yes, you start with normal porridge oats, carefully measured ofcourse, 40g for HEb. There are lots of recipes, usually add an egg, sweetener, if adding fruit must syn it, from frais or yogurt and mix!

Here’s a SW website recipe for Baked Oats:
Ingredients
40g plain porridge oats
1 level tbsp sweetener
1 small egg
100g fat-free natural yogurt
Few drops of vanilla essence
100g raspberries
Method
Preheat your oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6.
Mix the porridge, sweetener, egg, yogurt, vanilla essence and raspberries in a bowl and stir well.
Transfer the mixture to a small oven-proof dish (we used an individual casserole dish) and bake in the oven for 35 minutes, or until browned.
Serve with lots of Speed Free Food fruits.
HTH.
