Well, i'm determined to enjoy today!!! (From the confines of my own home and garden of course.)
The sunloungers are going to come out of hibernation, we have Prosecco chilling in the fridge, I've charged up my MP3 player, and I've dug out last summers puzzle books.
We have to cling onto the GOOD moments, however fleeting they may seem, wherever we find them, whenever we find them.
I find myself thinking of a song by Newton Faulkner, called "If this is it"
No one move, No one speak,
Please don’t say that it’s just me. It’s not just me.
And even though I won't forget,
Just don’t want this to end just yet.
Not just yet.
But if I had one chance to freeze time
And stand still and soak in everything,
I’d choose right now.
If I had one night where sunshine could break through
And show you everything,
I’d choose right now.
Before the fears that I once had start coming back…
If this is it, all we have, I know I’ve done all I can.
If this is it.
And we can't stop, And start again,
We can't fast forward to the end.
This is it.
And I can take the slings and stones and fire,
'Cause I know you'll make it all worthwhile
And everytime I fold, disolve, I'm lying on the ground,
You drag me up again
And again, Oh please come back again,
Oh please come back again.
And I’m so scared I might forget,
Just don’t want this to end just yet,
Not just yet.
It's well worth adding to your playlists IMO.

Trump's imposition on 3M puts the words "America First" into a new context. A new era may well lie ahead.
Local butchers/farm shop is more expensive than supermarkets. Quality is far superior. With all stocked items sourced locally. Including the beer and wine. Buying British has never been more important.4 -

Husband & I (both 70s) are well. The sun is shining, we have a garden, and we have food in the house.
I've been catching up with friends. We've all got time for longer chats.
I spoke to my son in Hong Kong via FaceTime. He's safe and well.
I'm happy. Today is very good day.6 -

They have been going for years and sell show varieties of leeks and onions, usually for local allotment holders or those with an interest in trying to "grow the big one!" This year everyone suddenly wants to have a go now they have the time. So there is a silver lining to all this.CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!3 -

Yes, we have to make the best of what we have, where we are. My wife is away looking after her frail & at risk mum, so that is very tough (zoom/alexa help make it feel less distant, but nevertheless.....tough)
....but I get the kids here, doing the cooking, hanging out, watching films.....working our way through the entire Marvel selection on the new Disney+ (£50 very well spent for this year at least!), & as an aside, rather enjoying some quirky Jeff Goldblum episodes on topics such as jeans, tattoos and more!
The weather certainly helps, as does the fact we have quite a nice little garden and an ex-golf course behind us for 'safely socially distanced walks'.
My thoughts go to those who continue "on the front line" - obviously NHS, but also shops, delivery drivers etc. I hope there is a shift in values towards such professions when this passes.Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!1 -

We had a lovely, productive day in the garden yesterday - not! We cleared out the rotten shed and binned a load of products from when I had an allotment and knew what bordeaux mixture and derris dust were actually for! We still need to replace the shed -after dumb dog put his foot through the roof when escaping into next door - it is just beyond economic repair with both roof and floor needing replacement - but for now we can at least plan what size we actually need. I discovered we have 3 boules set - very handy for a lawn covered in moon craters due to digging dogs!! Outgrown kids toys were left at the end of the drive for interested parties and have mostly gone to new homes.
I am learning new skills in lockdown. I had my second attempt with the clippers on DH's hair - definitely better than the first time. Then DD wanted me to cut her hair - scary. She went from long and dark blonde to a good 8 inches shorter and purple. She figured that if she hated it then there would still be plenty of time for it to grow out before uni.

Good Morning everyone.
DH has gone off to Aldi on his own this morning (1 trolley, 1 person policy), which makes sense as he pretty much does the menu planning, and used to do all the shopping on his own when I was still at work. He's not normally the most patient person at the best of times (can't stand ditherers and dawdlers), but hopefully he'll chill and go with the flow!! (I've packed him off with a trolley wipe and hand gel too - just hope he remembers to use them!!)
Mentally, i'm forever swinging between the "do what we're told to do, be sensible and everything will be OK" mode and "OMG, everything's contaminated, should I boil my shoes, should I put my shopping in the washing machine" mode.
It's a rollercoaster ride, and it's making me feel sick....can I get off now, please!!! My chest has felt a bit tight on and off these last 2 weeks, but i'm pretty sure that's just anxiety mixed with the start of hayfever season. I've still been running with no problems, so can't be anything serious. I've only got 10 days HF tablets left, and unless Aldi have them in yet (they're on the list), I don't really want to have to make a special trip to the chemist for them.
Anyway, on the financial side, in all the drama, I only just got round to opening 2 more Virgin Reg Savers (#15), and funding them today, after I had a requested payment from my Secure Trust 90 day notice account that payed out yesterday. So at least cash flow isn't something else to worry about. It must be so hard for those whose finances are on the brink at the moment. Our investments may have lost money, but hey, things could be a lot worse. Blessing counted here!!
Anyway i'm rambling again....tiz a worrying time.
Stay safe and well everyone.
