Very quiet again.   They even had loo roll, uht milk this week too!!!

The isles aren't 2 metres wide though, so a bit awkward as not everyone shops in the same order/direction ... then you realise there is no frozen sweetcorn, so go back for tinned!!!

All in all it felt "safe"... whatever that means these days.
The aisles in Asda near us have gone one way :) .  In general customers were keeping well clear of each other but staff still seemed to be in huddles with each other.

Actually some aspects of social distancing quite suit me, for example not having the next person in the queue pushing their trolley into my back or standing a foot behind me when I'm typing in my PIN.

I don't think a "one-way" system would work in our Aldi as it has 5 aisles.   So you'd come in at the front (aisle 1), but then end up at the back of the shop after aisle 5 (the top back corner where all the fresh, (cooked meat/cheese) stuff is, that's usually the busiest part).   So you HAVE to come back on yourself somewhere (or loop round and do aisle 4 again).   Then there are the cross-aisles half way down each aisle too.    What if you need to go back for something...is it "hard cheese"?

What if you get "stuck" behind a dawdler!!?    Especially in the "special buy" aisles!!!   TBH at busy times, if they had to operate a one in one out queue basis, it is VERY selfish of anyone to dawdle (and browse the specials) when someone else could be standing outside in the cold and rain waiting to get in.

Luckily, we've not had to queue at all yet.

Going into Tesco Local store the other night for my sandwiches/ meal deal for my supper at work they are operating a One in, One out system and limiting the number of customers in store to four at a time. Social distancing at the tills- only one self service till open and one served till open.

It is indeed unprecedented times- we usually have a desk at work heaving with cake/ biscuits/ treats now completely empty, as no one risks cross contamination by sharing a pack of cakes/ biscuits. The nightly wipe down of desks/ phones/ keyboards has become a ritualised and much more stringent process, in our office spaces defined with every other desk closed and marked as closed for social spacing! Possibly we'll now all eat healthier and may lose some weight!

Aldi's, and other supermarkets, 5 isle system is coming back to bite them.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it odd. Mrs C, thinks I'm odd every time I comment on it.
Since getting back the other week, we've only been in one supermarket, and that was to buy a Baguette. Cost wise, we're probably spending the same as normal on food in the independent shops, but getting slightly less for our money.

Blessing our village shops. We have a baker, greengrocer and butcher - all of whom will deliver. Plus a small supermarket and a hardware shop. Having scrutinised the media I saw the writing on the wall and booked several online supermarket deliveries weeks in advance of the current suspension of delivery slots. Have therefore been able to stock-up on all essentials without entering a large supermarket. The fun starts after Easter.

The reduction of stock lines and removal of offers has increased our grocery bill by at least 25%. I am also struggling with the 2 (or 3) limit on wine. It's the one treat left and we are guzzling more than usual. 3 or 4 bottles per week is now normal. I am now considering ordering by the case from online suppliers.

Read a great story today. Apparently, the Spanish can only take exercise if walking a dog. Some bright spark was caught by the police walking a chicken :) . Such vignettes remind me of what it means to be human.

Love it! Husband saw a bloke walking his computer on a wheeled trolley on one of his social media threads too.

I bet they have discovered they make extra sales from people having to walk at least one aisle twice.  (Having said that, our store has 4 aisles and instead get a problem of everyone arriving at the end of aisle 4 and the queue there blocking access to the other tills).
    I think....

The one thing i know about Aldi is that they have run out of wine to order online.  Amazon too.  So supermarket it is for me.

And my weekly bill has gone up in Tesco, but as i couldnt get into Marks last week so i spent nothing there.

Hearing all the promises about ramping up testing by the end of the month....reminds me of the scene from Top Gun, during the final dog-fight, when they need to launch extra fighters and he's told it'll be 10 minutes...
