Ah, a thoroughly legendary thread!
I totally understand you not wanting to continue to bare your finances in full: makes sense to me. I hope you will continue to dip in and out with tales from time to time….
Thanks for all the banter: naturally I still want to see £23k in ‘23: guess I will just have to imagine you and your hubster having a blowout Caribbean jaunt later this year to achieve my goal 🤣👍
I am confident you will continue to enjoy your long and happy retirement 😎👍Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!2 -
By their very nature these forums will often produce a "why?" when someone asks "how?" . It's human nature especially somewhere where asking questions is a big part.1

Thank you @Sea_Shell for this thread, and your generous sharing of knowledge. Long may you continue to do what you enjoy.Mortgage Free November 2018

Thank you Sea Shell for a very interesting, informative and often amusing thread. Your thread, along with the 'number' thread has really resonated with me as a fellow 'thrifty' and given me confidence to share my thoughts on this forum.
I hope you both enjoy a long and happy retirement on your 'squirrelled nuts'

Very saddened to read you won’t be posting in the same way. This is one of my favourite threads and inspiring and with so much wisdom and food for thought for those of us not quite there yet. I am secretly hoping you may change yr mind 😀1

I have found this thread to be very entertaining, informative and inspiring at times so shall miss your updates but understand why you feel it has run its course. No doubt will still see you posting as you may miss the banter (or not

Thank you @Sea_Shell for this thread. I've found it interesting and enjoyed reading the posts and your updates. I can understand why you think the thread has run it's course, but I hope you still post on the forum from time to time and continue to enjoy your retirement.0

Thanks again everyone. I'm glad that so many of you have taken something from this thread.
Like I said. I'm not going anywhere.
I'll still be posting, but will probably just start new threads for any particular issues or questions I have, like I have done with the NI payment thing etc.
All I'm not going to do is post up my financials (pot v spends) with the same detail as I have done.
It was too much like posting an SOA and having it pulled apart forensically, but for the opposite reasons!!!
Will I change my mind?...probably not, not whilst things are ticking along. BUT if something dramatic happened, then I might.
At the moment this thread (to me) now feels like a weather forecast when every day is just Sunny Intervals 18c.
If I get plunged into a Hurricane or a Heatwave, then I might have something to actually post about!!! Financially.
We're off into town shopping this morning. Primark beckons!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)13
