Hi all,
I have been with sky for 2 years and really wanted the sky+. After following the advise of threads including that of the sky sales person, I phoned and after holding for 45 minutes was told that the £49 offer was only for new customers or those with movies and sports. I was very polite and explained that my sister who had the same package as me for the same length of time had sky+ installed for £49 only in september. I feel I have been a good customer and also feel let down. I then proceeded to cancel sky, it is going off on Jan 13th 09. My kids are going to go crazy without it!! Any thoughts???many thanks.

I tried yesterday to get my sister-in-law upgraded to Sky+ as part of her Christmas present. (We have Sky+ and she loved it when she came to stay.) Like us, she's been a sky subscriber for years, with movies and sports channels, so I was quite suprised after being on the phone for 25minutes that the cheapest quote I could get was £250 just for the box and installation!!
I'm furious - I've only just signed up for Sky Talk and broadband and feel like cancelling, but of course Sky have us all by the short and curlies don't they?
It seems really unfair that they can offer certain deals willy nilly - with no consistancy at all, so it seems!
There - I feel much better after that whinge!!
Phew....Merry Christmas everyone! (except those at Sky)Women marry men hoping they will change, men marry women hoping they won't! Inevitably they will both be disappointed.Albert Einstein:smileyhea0 -

Its the way we went, no trouble either lots of people do it.
If you cant do that, then just let the cancel happen and wait for them, they'll either ring you or send letters with offers to get you back. They offered us free sky+ but obvouslty Id already then took it out in my name. :rolleyes:0 -
Cancel and rejoin in OH name! You can rejoin under refer a friend and get free sky+ (£30 installation). Its the way we went, no trouble either lots of people do it.
If you do this will the installer remove the old dish and fit a new one for you? only reason I ask is that we have an old dish (8yrs old) which still works and is getting BBC FreeSat through it but am tempted by the deal for sky, dont want to have to get up on the side of the house to remove the dish so that he can fit a new one though0 -
Hi we recently had Sky Reinstalled after joining up in OH name, in reply to your question about replacing your dish, the engineer that came out to us got his ladders and tested our dish, he found something to be faulty and replaced that part.... he left the old dish in place.
not sure if this helps you?0 -
thats great thanks, just didnt want them to turn up and refuse to fit because there was already one up there, I presume even if they leave the old dish it still has a one year guarantee0
