nothing , they have settled their spat with Virgin and probably don't feel the need to stop people leaving

give it a few weeks to see if Sky retentions ring to stop you leaving , or ring up towards the end of the month to change your mind

What did u say to get the HD box for £49?
im having trouble moving them from £75 (as a new customer)

    cheers
  • I rang and said I was going to cancel and this is the deal that came back but that was in Oct and after speaking to the engineer today he said there have been such a high demand for this and the price has gone back up so I think it changes every month and I reckon depends on the demand.....I would take it at that price because you never know by dec it may go up again.....

I bet there're getting busy for Xmas. I remember ringing a while ago at this time of year and they said it was getting busy (particularly with Sky+ orders). I'll bet the offers will cool off for a bit.

Don't worry the same thing happened to me. I stood my ground and on the day I was due to be cut off I got an offer though the post saying 'come back and get sky + for £49'. I forgot to call straight away and the sky was cut off at about 12pm. I phoned straight away to take them up on the offer and it was all back on by 12.30 - with the engineers arranged for a few days later for the sky +!

So even if they don't offer you anything you can get switched back on almost instantly, without having to sign a new contract either (unless you do take them up on a new hardware offer)
  • Just off the phone to Sky after reading all the posts. Told the operator I was getting Freesat unless she could offer me a reason to stay, told her I was interested in Sky+ and Multiroom. She said the best offer was £99 for the box plus £60 installation then £10 per month for the Multiroom. I told her a couple of my friends got it for £49 inc installation she laughed then said they never got it from us.

Asked to get put through to cancellations told the same story and the guy asked how much was I looking to pay(wish I said nothing) he offered Sky+ box and multiroom for £49 and I could either pay £30 for installation or take out movies for 1 month for £8 but he would credit my account with £10. So I took out the free movies to avoid the installation charge and he told me to cancel them after 1 month!

So getting a Sky+ box and multiroom installed on Saturday for £49. At the end of the call he started talking about Sky+ HD but we couldnt get it until 7th January because of demand. He said the price had went up to £99 to put people off buying just now to give Sky time to deal with the backlog.
  • I called today to try & get a deal on a Sky Plus box. The best they could offer me was £49 + £60 installation or a recycled box for £30 and again £60 installation fee.

I threatened to cancel my contract and was advised that deals came up all the time and that the longer I stayed with Sky the better a deal they could offer. As I've been a customer for 18 months, I asked how much longer I need to stay with Sky to get a better dea,l but the customer service guy couldn't say.

I threatened to cancel my contract and move to Virgin - I had done my homework and Virgin are offering cheaper deals. The Sky customer assistant said he couldn't offer me a better deal on the Sky Plus box, but offered me 12 months free line rental - which I refused as I didn’t want to sign up for another 12 months.

Eventually when I insisted that I wanted to cancel he offered me the chance to drop one of my 2 sky packages and only pay £3.00 a month for 3 months. He advised me to call back and see what other offers were available.

I'm saving £15.00 a month for 3 months so at least it buys me some time. But Sky aren't budging on the price of a Sky Plus box or installation.
  • Great advice, thanks polo2000w. I called cancellations on 08081014438 sayin didn,t get time to watch favourite programs & couldn,t afford sky+, got it for box & installation for £30. thankyou
