I have been trawling through the thread - honest, BUT.....

Could someone please summarise what is the best deal I can hope for, as a returning Sky subscriber ?
I don't want to haggle and keep phoning them back for days hoping to get everything for free, but neither do I want to settle for sky for £10 cheaper than full price, when I could have got a new Sky + box as well for £49 and the sky package half price !!

I have seen the adverts in the paper today for sky & movies for £26, with £50 M&S voucher - is this a good deal ?

All very confusing as they seem to have different deals for existing, returning and completely new subscribers. It must be a nightmare for their staff to keep on top of all the different offers/deals.

You have also scared me with your talk of not being able to get the boxes and connected until January. I have promised the kids Sky for Xmas, and we do have the box and dish etc, but would prefer SKY+ if possible, plus of course being an MSE, the best deal possible for the lowest price :p

Thanks in advance for any help:T
  • I've been a Sky customer for about 3 years, a few weeks ago I phone the cancellations dept and told them I wanted to cancel my subscription (just a story to see what deal they would give me).

The guy on the phone asked why and I told him I had recently started working shifts (totally untrue!) which meant I was out most evenings and therefore missed most of my favourite programmes. He asked if I had ever heard of Sky+ (result) and offered it to me for £70, of course I told him that was far too expensive, he then went down to £30, still too expensive! The young chap said he couldn't put though a payment for any less but what he suggested was I paid the £30 with my debit card and he would credit my Sky account with £15, which he did.

What a result, Sky+ with installation and no monthly charge for £15! :j

Everyone should try this, dont know how I ever lived without it. :rotfl: Goodluck.
  • Sky have got a new offer for christmas any existing customer gets a free Sky+ box if they recommend a new customer who recieves the same for £17 a month
  • I tried pleading poverty a couple of weeks ago after reading this thread and they offered to reduce my movies and sports package for 3 months. I asked if they had anything on offer for sky+ with me having been a loyal customer for 7 years but the best they could do was £75 +£30 instalation, so I declined.
In the meantime I have looked at all available offers, checked the web site all to no avail.
Upon catching up with the thread again I decided to be brave and ask to cancel my contract (whilst terrified that they might actually do it. OH and kids would go mad)

I spoke to a lovely young lady named Clare, who, when I explained that I didn't have the time to watch my programmes due to working late, suggested sky +. I said that I had looked into it a few weeks ago but unfortunately couldn't afford it (all perfectly true). Clare said that as I'm a long standing customer, have never defaulted on payments etc. she could offer me sky+ for a one of payment of £49.00, and they can install it next Saturday.
I know other people have got it cheaper but this was initially the figure I was after and I've still got my other reduced package.

So many thanks to all who have posted with their successes as I wouldn't have had the bottle to ring again and try if I hadn't read this thread.

  • Wohoo just rang sales who quoted me £210.00 to have Sky+ installed, asked for cancellations, said I was really disappointed with Sky attitude, been with them for 7+ years. always had top package, paid by direct debit so always on time. Spoke to lovely lady who said that due to all this she could offer us Sky+ for £49.00 :j . Said yes please (didn't want to push my luck as have tried couple of times before with no luck!!) and it is being installed on Wed.:T :T :T

Thanks to everyone on here for giving me the courage to keep trying.
  • we really wanted sky plus, in our area we were seeing adverts for it being £49 for new customers. I felt £50 was fair, but understood we were not new customers, not as we had been with sky for many years. after reading this thread i phoned up sky and have to say i got no where at all at first with the first guy i spoke to there in their scottish call centre. after over an hour and half of debating the guy was adamant he could not go lower than £80, not a penny less. i wasn't really happy with this as i felt he was simply on the defensive. he was also convinced there was no such offer on in my area, even though it was actually on a tv advert while we were on the phone! the guy was unbelievable and seeing as they are supposed to be customer services they dont half try to wind you up any way i had to give up, but was standing my ground and was not paying more than £50 for it, so let it go. after the call i went straight online and found their offer so called back and tried to get him again (i had his name) but had to talk to another lady instead. She straight away tells me she can do it for £60, and doesn't know why he didn't tell me this as its on the screen he would have been using. this really made me hate the guy i had been talking to, i tried to get it down but was happy with £60 at this point. got to say all fitted now and a great bit of kit, just a shame call centre people can be such hard work, all i wanted was sky plus and wanted to pay for it what others in my area were paying for it but you would swear i was asking for their first born child or something. That's whats putting me off trying it. I'm on a 4 mix package + BB, would love Sky + but the thought of phoning them & them accepting my cancellation is putting me off, I wouldn't mind if I didn;t have the BB but don't want hat cancelled.
