:money: :beer:I am currently in a 12 month contract expiring in April 2008. I called up today (thought that my contract ended in December for some reason), threatened to leave as I don't get time to watch much tv, and was offered (after a bit of haggling) the Sky plus box for £49 including installation. (On their website the existing customer "offer" is £149 plus £30 installation). I didn't call up their main number - I called 0808 1014438, cancellations, turnaround team. Been waiting a while for a good offer for existing customers so snapped it $up quickly.0

I looked at this thread on Friday night and decided to give it a go to try to get Sky + as cheap as possible having been quoted over £200 when I originally made enquiries.
I rang the cancellations department on Saturday morning and said that due to working shifts I was missing loads of my favourite programmes and also that some of the channels were not very clear. However we knew it would cost £65 for it to be fixed so were just living with it like that. I also said I'd thought about buying a recorder from Argos as it would be cheaper than Sky. I said that the children would be upset that I was cancelling it but due to the credit crunch etc we didn't have much choice. Lo and behold he asked if I had heard of Sky + and explained how it worked. As we were loyal customers (over 8 years) who had never missed a payment he offered a Sky + box and installation for £30 !!!!!!!!:j It's being installed next week.
I would say to anyone reading this to have a go and see what you can get. Remain calm and polite and you may get lucky.

I'm tied in to the 12 month broadband contract I started in April.
Yes I'm afraid that is the position, I've seen it posted before, if you have a broadband contract you can't cancel in the first 12 months so there's nothing you can do0 -
I've phoned tonight and will have sky + installed in 2 weeks free of charge. Had to take a 12 month contract but I didn't mind that. Thanks for the advice, I did have to hold on the line for 62 mins before they answered and by that point I was definately cancelling if they didn't offer what I wanted
I'm an existing customer who'd previously bottled it at the cancellation stage when not offered anything.0 -
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I got it all free of charge, being installed in 2 weeks... They never mentioned a new 12 month contract... Does this mean I don't have one, or that they just didn't say anything?0
