Just come off the phone to sky, threatened to cancel and go to BT Vision (which I can't actually get in my area, no reception), and they offered me a free sky+ box, free instalation AND 12 months free line rental on my sky talk
Chuffed to bits!!!
They initially offered me a sky HD box for £99 with free instalation, and I reckon I could have easily knocked them down from that, but didn't want to pay £10 per month for the priveledge.
I have been with sky for 9 years, and they said this was a plus and why they were willing to offer good deals to keep me.0 -
I rang up the cancellation's explained that i had moved shifts at work etc.
Act DUMB rather than the aggressive manner honestly it is the best approach,
I said i used to record the golf until the technology moved on and now i can't watch it because i have to go to work.
Then he said "do you know about sky+"
"now what does that do" i said
acting surprised he then went on the say the overall package would be £210
( £149 for the box and £60 instillation )
i then said i seen a television advert with a company called virgin media with a recorder. that was free.
he then said do you have a price in mind!! ha ha
so much for the £210
i said i don't mean to sound cheeky but the Virgin Media box is free.
he then said " no that's not cheeky at all i can do that for you".
Free box and instillation in 2 weeks time can't wait.
Just remember Be a bit Gentle
and NOT the i want to leave sky NOW, unless i can have a sky+ box please.
If they do say right i will ask you a few questions say is there not any other options and hopefully start to talk about Sky +
Remember to say about loyalty if all else fails. REMEMBER not Aggressively!!0 -
i rang up sky yesterday to enquire if i was out of contract which I was.
I told the guy on the phone I wanted multiroom but I did not want to pay for another box or installation( hope that is spelt right) and I was ringing all the tv providers to find the best deal. I was offer another sky plus box ( got on free last year) for my multi room free of charge and free line rental as well yipee.

Just got off the phone from Sky after following the advice on this post.
Has a lovely scottish guy helping me with a very professional and courteous manner, I explained that I was considering BT Vision which offers a free recorder box and he asked me if I would be interested in staying with Sky if he could organise a deal.
Anyway I have taken up a free Sky+ box with free installation (in 2 weeks) the only stipulation is that I agree to stay with Sky for 12 months.
Many Thanks to the previous posters for their information.
P.S does anyone know the make of the current Sky+ boxes that are fitted ?

Mostly amstrads, pace boxes are very few and far between they usually go to independant installers0

I want to go back to sky, have the sky + box, so just need to reconnect, any chance of getting a discount for going back to them?0

Hi,
I'm not exactly sure what you are doing - can i check?
I'm using an old sky box and old sky card to watch the free channels only - i.e. no subscription, no costs.
Can I ring them up and try to get a Sky+ box so I can record and try to get free installation too?
Why would they do that - what is in it for them? Or is everyone doing this already paying customers with subscriptions at the moment?
(I can't switch my phone or broadband as signed up to TalkTalk for another 10 months or so.)
Thanks!!0 -
