I'm not really worried if I am, but they never mentioned it!
got it free with no mention of 12months contract
recieved letter from sky telling me all was free
    :j
  • Well...............thank you to you all for bringing this to my attention!

I called Sky to say that i was thinking about cutting costs by cancelling Sky altogether as i received a leaflet from Virgin offering a very good deal for T.V, phone and broadband and straight away he was very helpful.

I am now still with Sky ha ha.......... This is what he offered me:

Free line rental for 12 months which saves me £120 over the year,
Free Sky box and free installation for Multi Room to have an extra box in the bedroom which costs £10 a month but he has given it to me Half price at £5 for 12 months and has credited my account with £30 so i am only actually paying for 6 months.

Therefore overall i have saved £90 for the year, havent had to go into another 12 month contract and am getting all my channels in an extra room as well!!! :D :T

I am so proud of myself ha ha and also an added bonus is that i went through to Sky talk after speaking to cancellations and explained it to him and that i would like to have sky talk anytime and he has given it to me free for 3 months :T :T

Great aye, i would definately suggest anyone calling them to save a bit of money :D

    Good luck
Just under £20,000 in debt and struggling!!

Been on hold for 25 minutes just now and gave up. Can't see how to cancel via the website to have had to email customer services instead. They must be making a fortune off these calls!
  • I spent Friday evening playing with my friend's sky plus, so I had to have one!

Just phoned and they've given me the sky + box and installation (next saturday) for GBP30 (where's my pound sign gone?) I was going to go ahead and cancel if I wasn't offered anything, I figured I could just cancel the cancellation next week or something.
I have been with them since 1999 but only have the mixes, no sports or movies.

I phoned sky today to complain that they are charging me for HD which I cancelled in May. I spent 69 minutes on the phone and didn't even speak to anyone! Just as well I used saynoto0870 before I phoned or I would be even madder (if that were possible!) So have had to resort to email. Probably won't reply to that for a week!!

Isnt there anything anyone can do about sky and these crazy wait times on their 0845 numbers? I waited on the phone for 2 hours 10 minutes yesterday and it never got answered between 4.30pm and 6.40pm. It said at first I would have a 38 minute wait. I did other things while waiting and then realised that even though I had phoned a geo number it still would have started charging me after the 1 hour passed.

I was phoning for my daughter as she lives in a non cabled area but I use freesat as an ex customer of sky and experiencing this reminded me of how bad they are. Why do they get away with such atrocious service/non service? I had considered returning to them myself for the sky+ but this has made me realise I can do without the hassle, as for my daughter they don't have a choice and need all 3 services.

Why do oftel or whatever they are called allow them to rip off customers by using and abusing these 0845 and 0870 numbers. Plus the 38 minute wait I was informed to have on the phone was totally miseading Polly is right they are making massive ammounts on these calls
    Thanx

    Great thread.
I have been a sky customer for about 10 years and still have the original box.
Thought I might give it a go and try and get a good (free) deal on sky+.

Before I do, could someone explain what the engineer does for instalation?
I am worried they will need to run a new cable from the dish to the box, do they?

I ask because we had an intension about 4 years ago and the sky wiring is now plastered into the walls of the extension.

    Thanks.
