My son lives in a flat in London and apparently they now have a dish installed in the building so they can get Sky. However he has been told they cannor have Skyplus because it is the wrong dish. I thought it jus needed an extra cable or is it different in flats??
  • Hi, After reading this thread yet again!!!:rotfl:
I've finally plucked up the courage to call sky AGAIN, after being fobbed off once before I called this morning straight to cancellations so i put the phone down!! (funny how we manage to get dis-connected) So I decided to change my tactic! I asked again to cancel but when they asked why I told them my box is playing up keeps freezing and has done for a while. Can't afford engineer etc. He came back with 3 options cancel, send out engineer for free or sky+ free but pay 30 instalation (sorry no pound sign). So I played daft he explained it all and I snapped it up!!!:j I got my installation date 2 weeks and then he said he felt bad because my box was funny and credited my account! wow I must say Thank you to every one on here and to every one who like me darn't do it, just do it you can always get dis-connected!!

they told me of the standard £210 cost of the box and installation so I let them know that there was no way I could afford this, afterall I've just got divorced and am a single mum (who are they to know my divorce was 7 years ago?! lol). Within seconds I was offered a free Sky+ box and just £60 installation. I did try to get the installation down but apparently this isn't possible me!

Funny it isn't possible to get free installation for you, a current customer but me, a lapsed customer got a card today offering me free installation and a free Sky+ box plus £50 of M+S vouchers. I am tempted but got word on a new HD deal last night so may hold on for that.

    can anyone suggest any help

Just spent a lifetime trying to get a deal with sky - I'm an excisting customer with a standard box paying £20pm
    I want Sky+, Broadband (max) & the evening/weekend calls.
Lovely man at sky said it would be £30pm, £75 for sky+ & £60 installation. Best deal they could do. Tried playing the skint card.. i.e. trying to sve cash thats why I want the BB & calls also. no luck
Passed through to customer services who basically told me what was on the website.. she was nice though but couldn't do any offers.

I know I'll have to pay something but can you help me get a better deal than what they've offered, or advice as to what I should do???
Can't threaten to leave as I'm scared they'll believe me and Prison Break is back on. Plus the GF would kill me if shes misses her programmes

Try ringing again and ask to be put through to cancellations. Tell them you want to cancel that you have been offered the new virgin + box and a deal on ur phone and broadband so thats why ur leaving they should offer you the box for £49 at worse or free...... depending who you get they may offer free unlimited calls and free broadband or a reduced rate broadband. Pay up the fact that u have been a loyal customer but that your missing programs as your vcr has just died so the virgin + offer is a good deal

remember if they call ur bluff u got 30 days before they cut your service so be brave and go the whole way u can always ring back and say you've changed ur mind. Sky are getting wise to people ringing threatening to cancel so they are being a bit tougher
    good luck :D

Isnt there anything anyone can do about sky and these crazy wait times on their 0845 numbers? I waited on the phone for 2 hours 10 minutes yesterday and it never got answered between 4.30pm and 6.40pm. It said at first I would have a 38 minute wait. I did other things while waiting and then realised that even though I had phoned a geo number it still would have started charging me after the 1 hour passed.

I was phoning for my daughter as she lives in a non cabled area but I use freesat as an ex customer of sky and experiencing this reminded me of how bad they are. Why do they get away with such atrocious service/non service? I had considered returning to them myself for the sky+ but this has made me realise I can do without the hassle, as for my daughter they don't have a choice and need all 3 services.

Why do oftel or whatever they are called allow them to rip off customers by using and abusing these 0845 and 0870 numbers. Plus the 38 minute wait I was informed to have on the phone was totally miseading Polly is right they are making massive ammounts on these calls

You can call 01506 421 884 to get through to Sky Customer Services

Flats have 1 dish for the block (usually).

Say that has 16 outputs. You can supply Sky to 16 flats, or Sky+ to 8 flats.

If there's no-where for the extra feed to come from, your son won't be able to have Sky+.

(I can't in my London flat either)
  • Today I rang Sky and I got....

    Free Sky+
Free Installation (am I the only one to have achieved this? Do I win a prize?)
AND £15 a month off my package for the next 3 months

It took me about an hour and a half on the phone to negotiate this.

    I had to use...

    1x request to cancel
    1x threat to complain
  • Hi all
    Long time lurker, first post.

I am just off the phone to sky, (taken me weeks to work up to it) i was genuinely going to cancel (if i didn't get a decent offer), as i wanted my tv, phone line and broadband all in one package and the deal from sky came to around £65 a month (as i'm in the connect area, currently with all diffferent providers its £75) when i added it all up online, while virgin was £60, so i called, as suggested here i asked to be put through to cancellations and the person i spoke to was lovely, she said as a long time customer she could see what she could do, to cut a long story short, i came out with the lot for £48 a month and sky+ for £30. Also my £17 broadband will be cut to £5 a month when sky gets into this area :D.
Maybe i could have haggled over the £30 but i was happy to be saving so much every month without the hassle and she was too nice to be mean to.
Want to say thank you to all on here as this has just made my night :D
  • Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone who posted.

Phoned myself to cancel, when asked why, explained that with me and the Mrs working shifts ... we were missing all our favourite programmes and with this credit crunch thing too, we were trying to cut down on our spending.

Explained about and then offered me Sky +, normally £150 + £60 installation. Because I was an existing customer and without any haggling, they offered me it for £60. I hmm'd and haa'd and they then said because I had said I was looking to cut back on my spending, I could have it for £30.

I know a lot of folk have got it for free and a good lot have also paid £49 for it and this was the price I was prepared to pay. £30 is not a lot of money for something that will change the way I watch TV.

    Can't wait.

    Thanks again.
