I tried all this 2 nights ago, I said I needed to cancel as work nights and can't afford to pay for Sky plus (true story) they came back with, sky plus for £50 plus fitting for £60. I said no and actaully gave my 30 day notice to cancel. The lady was nice but could not help any further. It was the Scottish call centre I spoke to.
That was it! I'll be leaving sky in 28 days!!
Mum mum has been with them for 2 years on a basic £16 package.0 -
Phoned the 01506 number to cancel ( said that gas bill is going up 35% per month ) and was passed thru to Scottish callcentre.
Free sky+ and install on 05/08/2008:j
Thanks for the heads up.0 -
sorry if this is somewhat of a sidetrack.
I have been with sky for about 10months now on their £35/month package.
we just got a letter saying this would be increasing to £40 effective immediately.
It isnt a huge amount but was wondering if I can ring up and cancel due to change in price before my 12month contract is up then re-subscribe (through flatmates name if necessary) to get free sky+ box and better deals that seem to be on at the moment?0 -

Wey hey! just got off the phone from a very nice young lady in cancellations and managed to get sky+ inc. installation for £30. I know its not free but £30 is still £180 off if i got it normally!
I also got broadband and phone line rental and calls package at same time as ive been looking at doing this for a while now.
Old package = sky £21, broadband+calls £20ish and bt line rental for £13.
total £54 a month
New deal = Sky+tv, b.band, calls+line rental all for £31 a month and a one off £30 install fee.
Well chuffed, thanks for evryones advice.:j0 -
just got off phone using 01506 421884 - said worked shifts so not watching it so can't justify cost and got Sky+ and install free - they're installing next week.
This is the third time Ive tried (tried before in December and April) so really pleased:jwaheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh0 -
hi just wondering, but does it matter how far through the contract you are to try canceling, i.e. do you have to wait for your first 12 months to be up before you can try it..
Cheers..0 -
:j well chuffed, phoned sky using the 01506 421731, in the morning as was told by some idiot that i was to ring the more expensine number and not to ring this number for sky. Stuff that i hung up and rang about 6pm and spoke to a scottish lady who transfered me, and with a little paitence i to have recieved sky+ for free and free instalation on a new 12 month contract staying on the same package £21 per month. just told them i work shifts and was not getting value for money, as well as i have to now consider fuel and food increases, she fell for it, so a big thank you everone for this thread:D ita all being installed on wed:rotfl:0
