Ha, that sounds exactly what I did. I even rang the engineer and said I thought he had taken my card by accident, and there is a concealed card slot on the right hand side of my box. The flap just pulls down. I felt really stupid, especially when he said he would put it down to a 'blonde' moment!
  • Just a note to say thanks. Rang up the sky cancellations number today. Gave them the changing jobs and will be on shifts story and got Sky+ for £49. :D

We rang up the normal line about 2 months ago and asked how much it would be and we were told £210 (including installation), so it looks like calling cancellations is your best bet.

Does Anybody know the cancellation fee?

Just thinking of cancelling then rejoining and being introduced by a friend to both get free sky+ boxes.

I tried to get through last night but gave up after 40 minutes.

    Regards

    Steve
  • Im on the £21 sky package have been for 4 years , Called 01506 421884 earlier, was answered straight away, I asked to cancel my package as was going to move to Virgin, they took my deatils asked me to hold whilst I was transfered to cancellations, 3 mins later I gave cancellations the working shifts story and I was cancelling to move to Virgin basic package as i get BBCI player and popular programmes saved all in my current telephone line rental.
Was offered Sky + FREE no installation fee, its being installed on Saturday.

Yes it works! Just did the same now, got through to a lovely gentleman named John, who was a real gent.

Firstly told them about new work shifts, and economic pressures how something (i.e. Sky TV) had to go - especially as we missed all the programmes we wanted to watch and had now given in to go back to terrestrial TV.

Was then offered Sky plus for £49, and I mentioned that was still a lot of money for us, and regrettably, i'd have to continue with the cancellation.

Hey ho! Was offered it for free, providing we stick to the same package (£21) for 12 months.

Have even organised the installation date a week saturday.

Result - but that's after trying hard for this 12 months ago and getting nowhere, perseverance prevails people!!!

Hi, delighted to say just called [FONT=&quot]01506 421731 having been with Sky for over 10 years....to cancel (being on an old Sky box myself)....got through to cancellations and just been offered SKY PLUS for FREE and installation happening next wk. Really pleased, I, like others said I was going to cancel due to tightening the purse strings (paying £17mth package to them ) ALSO our old box is being temperamental esp when bad weather hits so not worth the money & freeview will do us fine. I hope this works for others too...good luck...sooooooooo over the moon.
