Been at mum's all day ..... asked her if she'd fancy Sky+ (Bless her, she wasn't altogether sure what it did and thought it was an extra service she'd have to pay for and she'd lose all her Sky channels)

However, 15 mins onto that number I gave and she is having Sky+ fitted for free on thursday :D And I got her bill reduced by £2 when I told her she was paying for channels she never watched and got rid of them.

All we have to do now is see if we can connect her old sky box to another tv so she can have Freesat on that one.

I received the Digital Switchover leaflet offering Sky+ for £49 last week. I phoned and was told that I did qualify for it but that the offer was very new and she would have to take £135 and refund me £86. I stupidly agreed and she put me on hold, came back and said it was all sorted and the £86 had been refunded straight away. I guess you won't be surprised to hear it hasn't been  so, be careful and check your statements.

I'm on the phone to them as we speak. I couldn't get through on any of the 01506 numbers - 20 minutes and counting on the 0844 one

eta - have now spent 50 minutes in total on the phone and have been told that Sky have refused the refund - that's after I was told that there had been no refund/the system crashed when the operator tried to make the refund/my bank have refused the refund. I'll get the money back eventually and I'm going to apply for the cost of the calls as well. Or they can have the whole lot back and I'll cancel my subscription.

unfortunately for u, if u have only been a customer for 6 months there is not alot u can do at the moment, cause if u threaten to cancel, u will still have to pay the next 6 month fees as u r tied into a 12 month contract, only thing i can suggest is to wait the 6 months, and then phone them and try and get the £49 deal, or even better still get it for free, Dave
Thanks. I might do that or wait until they do a sky plus special offer because they do offers quite regularly so i,ve heard.

Stacey - I'm assuming that you already have an ordinary sky subscription? I have no idea why you can't get through or they won't offer you any deals.

My sister has just got through on the 01506 number, has got the free sky+ upgrade and has also taken their phone and BB package, so both sides are happy there.

I've been with sky for 6 yrs now. We don't have an analogue signal to our house so satellite was the only option :( They did offer me the deal - apparently I qualified for the £49 box and free installation because we're a digital switchover area but it's since been declined

I've just recieved a letter from them saying that they're charging me £184! This is really starting to do my head in :(

Not only that but I decided to take a £10 a month multiroom subscription at the same time and use the old box in my sons' room and they only booked the engineer for an install, not a relocate for the extra box. This has been a nightmare really.

eta - I've just got through on your number scout - thanks :)

God help anyone who has a problem with their SKY+.

Dealing with Sky is a total nightmare!

I've not been with them for nearly a year but took up the Sky+ for free offer. They fitted it and the card wouldn't work, but was told it would do in 4 hours.

Over a week later, 13 phone calls spanning well over 120 minutes, 3 calls to the original engineer, 2 engineers returning to the property and 3 promises of them sending out replacement card..................still no viewing and right where I was over a week ago.

I rang to chase up the 3rd card after the previous 2 hadn't materialised and guess what.... it's not been sent! It was ordered but for some reason was later cancelled. I was told another will be ordered and to wait 3 to 4 working days....

At that point I said no thanks....... I want to cancel.

I had to write to confirm this, stating my reasons and that it was under the cooling off period.

They are then going to contact me to de-install it!

The interesting bit is that they disposed off MY old dish in our bin, but they reckon this will be sorted out when they come to remove it.....

When it comes to customer care, they are a disaster. No one will take ownership of the problem and the fob you off saying it will now work in 4 hours. When it doesn't (which it didn't 5 times...), guess who is making a 20 minute call to follow it up.

Is Sky still on Quidco because I can't seem to find it - if it is can some tell me how to find it.

    Thank you
  • Hi all, first time post! Rang up Sky on Saturday afternoon via the usual channels stating I wanted to cancel Sky and go to Freesat (I had been with Sky for 7 years mainly on the lower packages). Managed to get Sky+ for free including free installation which is being done on Wednesday, I also kept my lowest package so no premium channels. You just need to remain calm and chatty it also helped that I stated that I wasn't in to watch my favourite programmes so Sky+ was an obvious lead to the call centre operative. :j
