just got off phone from sky said i was gonna get a freesat record box instead woooooooooooopie they said they will give me a free sky+box and free installation great job done

Thanks everyone i have tried this before and got nowhere so i thought i'd give it another go and yippppeeeeeee i got offered a free sky plus box and free installation. roll on monday!!!!!!!!!

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere but I haven't been able to find any reference to good sky deals for new customers. We want to change over from NTL for all sorts of reasons and would be grateful if anyone know of any good deals with sky - we'd want a full package,plus phone plus broadband and we have the equivalent of Sky plus (Ithink) if this is where you can record 2 progs while watching another one. I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks

I gave this a go last night.

I phoned and said: "I am looking to cancel my Sky subscription...", then offered the reason, instead of being asked (no guarantee they will ask). I said: "It's because I'm never around to watch the programmes I want, and my job has changed...". I kept the conversation light.

The guy then asked if I'd heard about SKY+. I said (acting naive), that I'd heard something about it, so he talked about its benefits. He said the down side is it costs £160 installed.

He then added that there was a special offer of £49 for customers like myself, whatever that meant. I requested they did it for free.

He then asked me to hold on while he 'spoke to his manager' (more likely a loo break!).

After a few minutes he came back and said he could do it - but - on one condition: that I take out a premium channel for one month, which is only £9 for the month.

They are coming next Wednesday to install it.

So, got them down from £160 to £9.

It can be done - good luck to you all.

Did you threaten to cancel ? I`ve tried twice so far and got nowhere

I can confirm did exactly the same today - after trying 6-7 times in last few weeks - said I wanted to cancel because of shift change, the indian guy put me through to a scottish guy and he said i can offer you free sky + including installation if you take out a package e.g sports for 1 month!

That Scottish guy seems to be the one to get - couldn't possibly be the same one of course but everytime I get him I come off the phone with a great deal!!
