That Scottish guy seems to be the one to get - couldn't possibly be the same one of course but everytime I get him I come off the phone with a great deal!!

You're right. I just got SKY+ for free (more or less - £9) from a Scottish guy - he was very friendly. I find it helps to make a bit of small talk and ask them about their job...they will warm to you and are more likely to offer you something. ;)

Had no joy when i cancelled so emailed J.Murdoch and customer services, said how loyal i have been over the years blah blah blah, no response yet. I have until 17th july, i can always reinstate it and see from there.
  • After you get transfered from India to Scotland just say "I'm cancelling if I don't get Sky + for free." You will get it!

If you settle for anything less its your own fault :D

I just phoned up and have ended up canceling my Sky Subscription. I told them the truth, that my box wasn't working properly and it wasn't worth paying for a new one when FreeSat is cheaper. They offered me an engineer to come out and fix it for free and I said no, it was too old to bother. They then offered me a new box for free, but not Skyplus. They would only give me Skyplus if I got the movies or sports. I told them I got the Sports every autumn for the NFL and was that any good and they wouldn't have it. So now we no longer have Sky:eek:. Oh well there's s*d all on it anyway these days

Enjoy using your old box and card for freesat ;)

Did you threaten to cancel ? I`ve tried twice so far and got nowhere

I did but i kept it polite my reasons for leaving , were because i wasn't happy that new customers could get it for free or at a reduced rate and i couldnt they asked if they could talk to me about my account i said yes and this is what i got. dont give up i have tried a few times but gave t my last shot and it worked.

    Good luck!!!!!!

We rang yesterday and they didnt offer it except for £49 which is still a good price but we stuck to our guns and he wouldnt go down for free so then we just told him to cancel it. Was wondering.. should we ring up again saying not to cancel or ring and say look just want to know the actually cancellation date due to wanting to move to virgin??

    Got it FREE!!!
I'm in a Virgin area, and already have the"Full Monty" package.....Phoned up and was totally straight with the bloke. Said I was considering cancelling and going over to Virgin becuse of my shift work...no hesitation on his part to match without further questions.
To me, it seems that if you have the full package of films and sports, you stand a better chance than if you are on the basic package.
    Attend SW Tuesdays =
Walk to station every day = :j
3 workouts per week = None :embarasse
Plan my meals weekly = Nope:eek:
  • I don't know how you guys have done it but i have followed all your advice and got nowhere. I shall be leaving Sky on 5 July, these are the emails i got from them

Having reviewed the position, I can confirm that currently, as an existing subscriber, by ordering online, you can receive Sky+ for £159.00 including installation. Unfortunately I am unable to offer you a free Sky+ box.

Sky does very much value its existing customers, and we seek to maintain their long term loyalty by continuing to invest in the quality and variety of our services.

Whilst I note your enquiry I would advise that I am unable to comment on other subscribers and what they may or may not have received.
However, as previously advised unfortunately I unable to offer you a free Sky+ system. I am sorry that my response could not be more favourable but hope that I have clarified our final position in regards to this matter.
    Kind Regards
