Yes is the short answer
I can refer you and you can get Sky+ and I get it as well.

Sky want £79.99 to come and install a sky box for multi-room and they arent budging0

I tried on a few occasions phoning sky to try to get sky+ and they said it would cost me £149 for the sky+ box plus installation, e-mailed them on Sunday and got a e-mail today saying i could get the sky+ box and installation for £49 plus they would move my existing box to another room for free (but would cost me an extra £10 a month for card). Highly delighted as this was a great reduction from what they quoted on the phone. Thanks to the advice I got from this thread.0

Going to be new to sky+ & sky. Problem is my phone socket is my dinning room not in the TV room and I don't want a phone wire tacting round the door frame and along the skirting board anything I can do.
Moving the phone point is going to be too expensive, and don't think taking carpets up is such an option.
Had the same problem last week.
My solution was quite simple - the phone socket is behind the sofa, the engineer connected enough wiring to take it round the door etc and we just wrapped it up and left it unconnected behind the sofa.
If Sky ring up, either run it across the floor and connect it for a short while or tell them you are in the process of decorating and the house is upside down and leave it unconected.
It only has to be connected for a year.0 -
A lot of sky customers are trying this (ringing up to cancel)to get a better deal but from what i've read sky are calling their bluff.0

Hi
It looks like if you subscribe to the top package, you are completly out of luck and I feel really sorry for you.
I am having my sky+ installed in about 2 hours for £5.
I made this comment in the other thread, but it got merged and people may not know.
I currently subscribe to all the "basic channels" @ £21 a month, none of the premium ones.
I said I want to cancel and I said because my work hours have changed, she said that she can offer me sky+ at £49 straight away. I said I rang last week and was offered that, I considered it but I just could not justify it... e.t.c.
she said wait a second and she will talk to the manager... it really was only about 5 seconds and she came back (do they really talk to anyone, or is "talk to manager" press a few buttons and see what it offers? :S )
Anyway, the offer was sky + box and installation, completly free, I just have to subscribe to either sky movies one or two, I choose two because she said that one had scifi in!
She said it is a minimum contract of 1 month and it is £5 a month, she was even helpful and gave me the date I have to ring up on to cancel at the end of one month so I am not charged for a second.
The only bind im in is that the movie channel was activated as soon as I came off the phone and there has been some really good movies on! James Bond Casino Royal, V, and other ones I like! I guess that is why they ask you to subscribe! Their tactics worked here, but I think I will unsubscribe as much as I like it!
Anyway, I phoned up on (i think) thursday, and I was offered this with pretty much no haggling and my call only lasted around 7-8 mins, so hopefully they are still doing it.
Good luck!0 -
Hello, can I join you in here?
I've recently been trying to get stuff out of sky with no joy at all. We've been customers for, i reckon, just over 10 years on the full sky world package. Watching it jump up in cost has been painful to say the least.
I discovered this site (very very excellent by the way :T ) and decided to try a little haggling. All I could get out of them was 3 months on our current package for £30 quid. Pfft.
Discussed the free broadband with them, £75 quid installation for that (why??!!). I told them we couldn't afford the one off fee for that at the moment, was there anything they could do to waive the fee. Yes said the man, £75 quid would be negated if we took Sky+ for £209 (incl installation), it took all my reserves not to laugh out loud!!
I would cancel but we can't currently get cable where we live so we feel completely stitched up.
I have a question if anyone can answer. What would happen if I cancelled our account, then tried to re-register under my name instead of hubby's? Would they stop that from happening? It seems to be the only way we could get any decent offers out of them  . Any advice would be really appreciated! Finally, apologies if I've posted this in the wrong bit, I'm brand shiny new!0 -
That should work fine.
If it does fail, just ring up and say you have the same surname as the previous owner.... or you bought the house from someone else in the family
there many excuses you can think of, however I doubt it will fail
I feel really sorry for you, I have been a subscriber for at least 6+, I think maybe 8 years now and I thought it was really bad when I have seen people getting sky+ for free when they were only members for 1-2 years and I was offered £49
I think their treatment of existing customers is terrible. I am greatful I am getting it for £5, but I think it is absoloute sh-t what I had to go through to get it.
I rang up and when I was only offered £49, I said I would cancel because my box is not even working properlly, they gave me a replacement box (brand new super fast and good one... wish I did this about 2 years ago!), and it was installed on a sunday completly free, I made sure it was no 12 month extention... it was no comitment, and I rang them up about 5 daysafter it was installed in order to complain and re cancel when I was offered this deal of sky+ for £5
so, they offered me £49, I said no.
I got free normal box + sunday installation, then free sky+ plus free installation for subscribing to movies for 1 month at a total cost of £5. why could they not offer me this first of all - at a cost of £25 per engineer visit (that they pay apparently.. maybe more on a sunday), 2 installations, they should of just offered it to me to being with!
Anyway, I hope that you get your sky+ and at the very least, try to get a new standard box like I did.0 -
I got Sky+ for £49 and I'm happy ... yes, I could probably have bargained further but I value my time & patience too much!
I emailed Sky from the website feedback form, explained I'd been a customer for about 10 years and that I couldn't go elsewhere as we have no cable nor terrestrial reception, and cheekily asked what they could offer for a "loyal customer" (who only takes the basic package!). I also pointed out that by emailing I wasn't wasting their telephone customer service time with prolonged phone calls and negotiations.
Got a positive response after 3 days, offering a Sky+ box & installation for £49; installation has just happened one week later. Considering my original Sky box was over 6 years old, I thought this was a fair price for replacement (without having to eBay for one, or sort out the technical aspects).
I'm happy. And so is hubbie, coz now we don't fight over the remote at 9pm!
Edit: hubbie has also just reminded me that we needed a new VCR anyway, so this'll do instead!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
