I too have phoned sky, first tried got offered £99 free installation, 2nd time was offered £99 or £49 plus £10 a month for multi room, making it £169 over the year, what do you have to do to get £49 alone!!? they weren't budging with me0

finally got replies to my emails. first 2 i think must be computer generated as they were identically and basicaly didn't address the issue of free or £49 for sky+ at all. third one basically told me that altho' they value longstanding and loyal customers tough, i still wasn't getting it cheaper than advertised on the website.
they couldn't comment on all of those people who had benefited from this promotion - altho' if you listen to customer services there is no promotion - but the gist of it is this:
If you subscribe to the top package, ie £45 a month then you will get offered nothing. If you subscribe to a lower package they will offer you sky+ as an incentive so that you will 'up' your subscription to a higher package.
They do, of course, highly value their long standing and loyal customers, but not enough to give them sky+ either free or reduced!0 -

This is what p1sses me off. It is so hit and miss.
You might get an upgrade you might get nothing.
No loyalty weighting at all.
If freesat starts adding some more channels then I will be off and Mr Murdoch can take Sky and shove it0 -
As I also had no joy with Sky, cancelled there and then and am now in 30 day notice period. Telephoned local Curry's store who advised that they will do free Sky+ box with £30 installation - no catch. Was on the way to Curry's at local centre and as if fate played a hand, there was a Sky stand right in front of me before I reached the store. I paused to read the blurb and a guy on the stand asked me if he could help. Told him had just cancelled Sky contract and on way to Currys to get a new package in another family member's name. He said they are doing a £30 installation deal - new box, not a refurb, and nothing else to pay.
Wonder if maybe Curry's are doing this deal because of the close proximity of the Sky stand to their store? Its an absolutely rubbish system that Sky operate, and paying no regard for customer loyalty. Shame we cant all cancel and tell them to stuff it, but as a previous poster says its a good system. Dont want to count chickens until my installation, but fingers crossed!!0 -
I've just been on the phone to sky to find out about moving house, first off it was a £50 installation charge at the new house and either £150 for a sky+ box or £109 for a standard sky box!! He put me on hold a couple of times and he said he could do free standard box and free installation, and he's put a note on the system saying what he's offered me so I can call back later if I want to. I wasn't cheeky enough to ask him to knock down the price of the sky+ (two screaming kids in the background didn't help much either lol).
Just a thought though, this offer that's on at Currys, does the £30 installation include setting up broadband too?0 -

probably not, but nothing is stopping you from ordering broadband the moment your sky account is set up.
Right, as for me, I was told that I would get a call back on Tuesday with the date and time of my installation. It never happened, but I rang them and they told me it is being done this sunday.
Now, call me stupid if you want, but doesnt it cost them more to do a installation on sunday plus a free normal sky box rather than just give me sky + for free installed on a weekday.
Anyway, a bit mad at sky, years of loyalty for nothing.0 -
How long would it take to cancel my account and set up OH as new subscriber (diff surnames etc) as want to get HD but obviously cheaper as new customer? Anyone know what is involved?0

Just wanted to say thanks to the OP. :j Had Sky+ fittted free yesterday and it's great. They had to put in a whole new cable, dish and box which I wasn't expecting, I can see why they usually charge for installation.0

I just tried sky again, and the most they would budge is to a £99 sky+ box with free installation. I told them that my friend works in Currys and he told me about the free box offer and he said it's only if you signed up to certain things at the time (yeah, sky sports, which we already have!! ) but that's the best he could do
. Got the direct number for cancellations and when I've spoken to my DP I may actually cancel, could do with saving £50 a month anyway!

could you tell me the direct number for cancellations as the one i have is still all those selections.
haven't decided yet whether to cancel or not but would like to get through direct rather than go thru' the selections and end up with somebody who i suspect is in delhi or some such place, as happened the other day.0
