Wonder if they are likely to be more sympathetic to callers if you say you are off to freesat.

(I assume the im333 was watching the FTA channels and not the new freesat service)
Why did you need a new dish by the way? Thought they used the existing one with an new LNB

    It was FTA, you're right.
Not sure about the new dish...operator at time of order said they'd be fitting a new dish too when I told him we already had an old dish up.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I posted in the digital cost cutting forum earlier, but due to the old dish of 15 years falling apart today the installer relocated a new dish with my free sky+ and left some phone line for us to use all at no extra cost. He mentioned that new customers get sky+ free and I told him how I got it free as well! He was impressed and said good job as sky should give out more good deals. :D

If you ask them you should get a new dish, the installers get issued with one cos they dont know if you've got one or not, and "officially" they should put a new one up, but cos it saves them work they dont, unless you've got a really rusty old one.

Oh has just been on the phone trying to cancel, first he got cut off, then he got through to a "foreigner" (which is not a good start for the OH, he hates not being able to understand people) and they put him on hold for a while, started going through the motions for cancelling and then again got cut off. So he's now sent a really angry email to them.
If they dont offer us sky+ free then we're gonna cancel anyway and get a new contract in my name with FIL as a referer. Sky really do have rubbish CS, like most companies nowadays though!

Thanks for all the info about dishes.

I have tried the cancelling route - twice - to no avail. Got nothing.

However having said that now got an email telling me that if I refer someone we will both get Sky+ so off to the referral board for me

I have been down the route of 2 phone calls and 3 emails and not had a single reply to any email! how long did you folks wait for a response by email? the 2 phone calls produced nothing only £149 as the best they could do for a loyal customer - only been with them 14 years!!

    any ideas or tips?

Finally got around to phoning sky last nite. Was kept on hold for 15 mins!!! Told them i wanted to cancel due to work shift changing blah blah...they asked had i ever heard of sky+ but i said it was too expensive. Upshot of it all is that i am now getting sky cancelled on 04th July.
