Hooray, just had Sky Plus installed this morning for free…

Rang them last Wednesday after getting no response to the message I left on the feedback form and explained to a lady that I wanted to cancel my account, she put me through to the cancellations department where I explained to a guy that I wanted to cancel my account.

He said “no problem we can cancel your account” and explained about the 30 day cooling off period whereupon I started to get a bit worried that I had gone too far. He then asked why I wanted to cancel and I said it was because I wasn’t able to watch the programmes I wanted and he asked if I had considered sky plus to which I said “yes, but too expensive”

Prior to the call I had the full Sky package, movies, sport, broadband, multi-room box but rent the line from BT.

He said had I been approached with any other offers and I (lied) said some of my friends have moved to Virgin and paid about £40.

He said that if I swapped to renting my phone line through Sky (£10 a month) instead of BT (£11 a month) and pay £49 for the box he would cut my multi-room subscription for 6 months from £10 to £5 (saving £30). I said that doesn’t really help me in the short term as I would have to pay the £49 up front.

He had a think and said that if I switched the phone line to Sky he could do the box for free to which I replied cheekily “Cool, and do I still get the multi-room half price for 6 months ?”

After a bit of pushing and a few minutes of being on hold while he cleared it with his boss I got it, so I am actually paying £6 a month less and getting Sky Plus for free

It really is how much you push them, I could have left paying £49 for the box and not getting any other benefits but by being cheeky…

Think I`ll leave it a few weeks then see about getting a HD box...

Cheers to the poster for this one, this site is brilliant !!!

Well done! Shows your hard work paid off!

If anyone knows of someone in the Dartford (SE London & Kent) area) who is able to put an external coax cable from my Sky+ box to a room downstairs, please let me know!

Just got off the phone and was told the best they could do for me was sky+ for 69 pounds. Said the free offer was if you introduce a friend and the 49 pound offer had finished now!

With Freeview we don't watch Sky, but would have upgraded for a freebee.

Anyhow, have now canx and will be saving nearly 50 quid a month, so I'm pleased either way.

telephoned a free number for sky.
advised I was to cancel as I wasn't watching the programmes I was paying for. And for £38.00per month thought it was a bit steep. Was offered a lower package for £26.00 (this is less the sky sports) which is fine whilst the football season starts.

Advised it would be £49.00 told them too much and defeated the object of the call.

Offered it for FREE as a valued customer installed for free no extra cheeky costs.

So it is still on me thinks
