hi everyone I am very glad I found this site because my digi box had broken and sky was wanting £60 to send an engineer out. I contacted them as suggested again and said I wanted to cancel and gave my reason why, I am getting sky+ for £49 on Friday.:T :T :T I am trying to persuade my daughter to do the same as she was quoted £160 for fitting and the box.0

After two phone calls and nothing I then sent an e-mail. Was called today by a very friendly lady who immediately offered me free sky + being fitted on sunday. I did not threaten to cancel, I was honest and said that it was unfair all these people I have heard of getting free sky, and me a customer of 9 years is offered nothing. It pays to e-mail as this department is more flexible on its offers.I am only trying to help :rolleyes:0

My original sky box has packed up. I have been on the phone to sky for about 1 and a half hours and trying non stop to get a sky plus box for free.
I have had no luck what so ever, however I said I want to cancel and they have offered me a brand new replacement sky box for free and said that it is no 12 month contract. It will be installed within 7 days and I can ring up to try and get sky plus again after it is installed.
I have been with sky now for many many years, and am very annoyed to be offered nothing, but after I get my new standard sky box, I will try again for free sky +.
If anyone else is able to get it for free, please say as they assured me that no one is getting it for free and when I told them about this site, they said that everyone here is liars....
I spoke to a manager, and more, but nothing... quite frankly, I am fed up, its only £50 but I think it is unfair that I have been with sky for close to 10 years and have been offered nothing and not being rude to others, but I am guessing some of you who have got it for free are under that.
I am typing this message whilst on hold, booking in my new appointment for the new sky box installation... stupid, this costs them money for the box, for the installation e.t.c. rather than just give me a sky+ box.
the call will probably finished soon, but frankly my time is worth more than this and am just fed up talking to this bloke, however I just don't feel like I should pay £500 -
Speak to someone in cancellations and state that you are leaving unless they give you a new box? If they don't play ball, cancel and get another member of the family to subscribe?...0

I've just sent the following message via the feedback form on the Sky website - I'll follow up here with whether it gets me a free Sky+ box.
I've been a loyal customer of Sky for many years, but recently I have changed my working hours, and I'm now rarely at home in the evenings, when the best shows are on. I have been considering for some time whether to cancel my subscription and make do with a freeview set top box. Recently I've read on www.moneysavingexpert.com that if you ask nicely you can get your Sky box upgraded to a Sky+ box for free... Please could I have one? If you give me one, I'll promise to stick with Sky!
Please call soon if this is possible. If not, please can you send me details for how to cancel my subscription?0 -
Hi,
we got Sky+ for £49. Tried really hard for a freebie, but tied into some contract or another because of our broadband with Sky. All things considered we are pretty pleased with that.0 -

i got mine for free, told them virgin V+ were offering me a better deal, and i was thinking of using freeview with hd recorder, and they were offering it to new customers for free, laid it on thick about not being able to afford it
eventually he gave me it for free, never took that long to get it, i did threaten to cancel and done it all via the cancellations dept0 -
