Hi eslick
no luck with the email at all.
there reply contained the following:
'Our principal commitment is undoubtedly to our loyal existing subscribers'
'Sky does very much value its existing customers, and we seek to maintain their long term loyalty by continuing to invest in the quality and variety of our services.'
'Our promotional offers are carefully marketed and I am sure you will appreciate, I am unable to comment on any of our other subscribers individual accounts and what they may or may not have received due to the Data Protection Act.'
'However, as a commercial organisation, we must also invest in ongoing promotional activities to sell our services. By attracting new subscribers (or encouraging existing customers to add more channels to their package) we will be able to invest more in programming to the benefit of all subscribers.'
basically what they are saying is that if you already pay the highest possible subscription then you're not worth considering for a freebie as they can't get you to 'up' your subscription.
I reckon you're better off downgrading to the lowest package possible, then calling to cancel and see if you get offered anything then.
i wasn't even that bothered about sky+ but it's the basic principle that if you have been with them, as i have, for over 14 years, always at the highest package, then you are discriminated against in favour of somebody who has never subscribed or subscribed at a much lower level.
still undecided what to do, as if i cancel and try to re-subscribe in OH name then they wil link the address and we still won't be able to get anything.
i also think it depends on who you speak to as reading some of the posts on this thread some of the customer advisers are more prone to just dish out sky+ or whatever than others.
if it was up to me i'd cancel but hubby doesn't want to miss the summer sport so looks like we'll have to carry on as before or shell out £1500 -
bettyboo i think its really bad that you have been with them 14 years and will not give you the offer, I really hope you have luck with phoning them good luck x0

When my sub-contractor guy fitted mine on a sunday, he said he only gets £25 for the installation, so it's rubbish what they quote as the installation price (even if it was a sub-contractor in my case). He said everyone he fits them for does the same thing, ring and threaten to cancel. Looks like they've changed their tactics for the time being though.0

Well after being on the phone for about an hour ive finally got sky +for £49, i told them i rang up last friday and was offered the sky+ for £49 but i thought id hang on to see if i could get it for free so i told them i would have to consult my oh.After reading this bb this week i rang today and told them to book me in for the sky+ package i`d asked about last week at £49 and he said i would have to pay £129.I said you are going back on your offer and that i wanted multiroom as well (ive been paying full package £45 for about ten years)so off he went and came back and said he would honour the deal im really pleased, he took my £49 payment up front and said he would ring me tomorrow with a instalation day (the engineers dept was very busy)after its been fitted i will reduce my package to 4 mixes and movies £36 +multiroom £10=£46 so only 1 pound extra a month. yippeee thks to everyone0

bettyboo1923 wrote: »could you tell me the direct number for cancellations as the one i have is still all those selections.
haven't decided yet whether to cancel or not but would like to get through direct rather than go thru' the selections and end up with somebody who i suspect is in delhi or some such place, as happened the other day.
The number he gave me was 08442 41 06 23 obviously not the freephone number (I've got sky talk so I don't think it charges me anymore?) but saynoto0870 might have a free version!0 -
Cancelled Sky about 8 weeks ago as it wasn't get watched enough. At the time they wouldn't give me a better deal. They phoned today offering me SkyPlus for free instead of £209. Didn't bother. If I had known then what I know now . . .

She then spoke to a manager and they said £49 .

I know this question is off topic, and please point me to the right place... I have just had the Sky+ installed in my office and now i'm planning to call a guy over tomorrow afternoon to put in a coax cable from my box upstairs to the TV downstairs so that when i'm at work my mum can watch sky. When I am watching my own programs in the evening I want her to be able to still watch terestrial tv (its an old fashioned CRT TV). Is there a cable/switch I can get to do this?0

Sky have been sending out referral vouchers recently to HD owners. You can get Sky+ for free or HD for £99 - so worth asking around.0
