Good luck Jet34 - Thats exactly how I felt. Had been reading this thread thinking shall I bother, then thought 'thats it got to give it a go"
I basically enquired about how long it takes to cancel, was then asked why I wanted to cancel. I said that everyone wants to watch different things and I have had enough of paying for hassle. Was then asked if I had ever considered Sky+ to which I replied that it is expensive, was told they are doing it for £49 and free installation to which I said that its still too expensive. Woman then went away to 'see what else they could do for me' then came back saying spoken to line manager and they could offer me Sky+ for free with free installation.

I called a couple of days ago.... was after a monthly tariff reduction & got the Sky+ free offer.
I think this is the only thing available at the moment &, as I was more focussed on monthly cost & find the movies/sport poor value now, I ended up cancelling Sky & will get Virginmedia XL for £10 / month.
Has anybody been offered any reduction in monthly cost recently ?0 -

I just want to say thanks to everyone who has posted on here, to give me the courage to phone up and 'cancel' sky. I spoke to the nice scottish lady (her name was Melody) and said I wanted to cancel. She said that as I had been a long standing customer I could have Sky+ for free. I wasn't ready for her to jump straight to the free offer................
They are installing next week, I am so happy.
I also took their broadband and sky talk package and have saved a bundle. My original sky deal was £21 and now with Sky+, broadband and Sky talk my monthly charge is, wait for it, £21. How cool is that?
Once again, thanks to all the people on here sharing there gains.
